tis me...
been spending a little more time over here, mostly stayed on ca.com, so not too known over here
and they are not even XL's, just LVL 4's, i think your gonna be in for a surprise when you get your stuff going, 4 18s will be sick
but here is the build log

i got a hella deal on my mlk2's, no way i would be able to afford a $2500 set of speakers, but they are the best sounding speakers ive had the chance to mess with, prolly one of my fav upgrades, bad thing is most people dont know or could care less about good sound
but you have to realize there is more to it than just getting nice speakers and putting them in, without a good EQ and Time alignment it would be a waste, if i were you i would look into a processor or new HU, the new kenwood excelon units have a ton of sq stuff in them, T/a, pretty good eq, etc
-
srp on new HSK's are like 420$
i think the spaces will sound good though, just cost a little more but you're getting a nicer tweeter
-
-
ive grown accustomed to hertz, none of their stuff has let me down, i love my MLKs, i would even run their high energy ones, they sound awesome for the money
can you not use plates and get any extra depth?
if you can i would reccommend the hsk's, the new remodeled version, if not im sure the space sets are good sounding, they are really neat speakers when you look at them in person
-
never used either, mb quarts i would assume are gonna be harsh compared to hertz, just hear say, never used any
might want to try diymobileaudio.com for better results
-
we had them on the hertz display, never really bothered with them, its the same tweeter as the mlk165s
what are you trying to do with them? depth restrictions?
-
i think srp is ~600$
we never did too many space sets
-
we saw it the night it came out...epic funny IMO

Just a note, you say 200 for the 12 and 250 for the sub, im guessing one should be the amp
also the color of the dustcap
good luck with the sale
-
well the MT dosent have any fancy cooling channels or anything special like the BTL, most people ran 2000-3000 to them for daily, meade used to use them with a good amt of power, dont know how they held up though, BTL is gonna have agood bit more xmax also, which dosent mean that much but the MT does use a short coil
both can take a ton of power for burps
but 4000 is alot of power for 1 sub no matter which ones you decide on, 3000 is more reasonable but still a ton of power, there is only so much power a 3" coil can take continuous
if it is truly a good deal on the MTs then go that route, they will still beat like hell, but if money isnt that much difference then there are better daily suited subwoofers
if your having probelms with the SX overheating with 2600 for the pair you might need to rethink running 3000+per sub
-
alot of people ran MTs before some of the new companies came out with super subs like the BTL and such, not so much anymore with RE's price hike
i had 2 15s and a 18, both were awesome subs, my BTL was better for daily like stated, but MTs still did fine
how cheap is he getting them to you for? back when they were selling direct the prices on 18s were mid-high $400's IIRC

www.psp-inc.com
they have a port calculator there
need to know
net cu ft
port diameter
how many ports
desired tuning frequency
As long as you do this right you are good to go
How many 4"s are you doing
-
awesome looking box, close to what im going for
that looks like a ~02-03 explorer, mine is a 04
i have 4 lvl4 12s off a t40001
are those 4 6"s? custom made or PSP ports?
is that paint or vinly, looks like vinyl
how big is the box, im guessing no back seat?
i like the plexi look, ive got an idea with plexi im gonna try and do, already have a sheet of 3/4 or 1" plexi, cant remember what it was
looks good thought man, looking foward to some vids and numbers
-
got part of the shipment in today
**** these ports are big looking in person
also ordered the big ass terminal, the terminals will accept 4ga wire, they are big
-
sexy subs i think if i ever got rid of my sx's id get level 4's
i had 1 SX 12 as my kinda first system, loved it, then went to a XXX then to a MT, then 2 MTs and... its been all over the place since then
but for the price, these subs are some beasts, hopefully they impress me, im sure they will
-
well i have 3 6" ports on the way, probably gonna plug one for daily tuning and open it up if i want to compete or get that extra peak, just leave them stock length of 17"
prolly 8 cubes, 30.5hz with 2 and 37.5 with them open, or 32 and 39, sub up port back, my explorer should peak mid 40s or so, but i have deadener on my roof, so it might be higher or lower

Yesssirr. Sound damn loud. WAAYYY better than the CVRs. I'm havin voltage problems tho after ab 45 seconds of playin soo, I'm lookin for some new amps..lol
yea the HK's are voltage hogs, glad they are sounding good though
when you thinking of pulling the wall out
lookin forward to this build!!! get lotsa pics and videos!!! :hairtrick:moose
i always manage to get lots of pics, there are a good bit on CA.com build log for old one, molded tweeters, box and install etc
Gratz!!i agree with Doctor Ben (PhD) do another 4k and XLs
-Drew
im done power wise, i dont want or need any more than the t40001
nice stuff man, i remember you from WAY back on ca.com nice to see you over hereyea ive been there since 04/05 i think it was, wasted way too much time over there, ive been a member her too for a while, just never really posted any, i dont post like i used too
You went From 4 T2 15's to 4 LV4 12's....?why?
i work for a shop that sells RF and other stuff in the vehicle, did a wall full of RF, wall too much for me in a daily driver, took wall out, changing colleges in a month or 2 and going to be leaving to finish up engineering degree, so running subs that i want to, wanted somethign smaller so chose 4 12", got a good deal on the LVL 4's so went that route...following me here?
also any opinions, im gonna do Aero ports on this box, never used them before been wanting to try them out
box is gonna be 7-8cu ft, tuning of 34hz, i was originally gonna run 2 6" Aeros, which is ~55sq in port around 15.x long
i get some saying that i need to do 3 6" ports and others saying 2 is fine, like i said never used them before but i thought the point of Flared Aeros was that your able to use a little less than the 12-16sq in rule for port
if i run 3 that will bump the length up to ~27", which will need extra tubes and connectors plus a whole extra port, probably 60-70$more, im planning on the box only being somewhere around 28-30" deep so the ports would be right up aganist the wall with out doing somethign special, so 3 is pretty much out of the question
the other option is a Slot port but i wanted to try something different on this box
Finally made a video...
