"Only goes up to 24kw in mono mode..." Seriously though, how many amps go above 24,000 watts?? The additional cost of the needed resistors prob doesn't make sense. Currently we can only clamp them to see what they're doing, and the astron meters only show what their draw is, so we're stuck going by what the manufacturer says their efficiency is when calculating approximate output. Testing a 50kw amp with clamps never yields the same result the same time, even using the high end clamps.

Just curious, but is it possible to have one of these upgraded to handle the higher output amps of today? I notice it only goes up to 24kw in mono mode, figured I'd ask if the internals can be beefed up to handle more than twice that power or if it's just not possible or safe to do? Like measuring the 50kw Taramp. -Mike.

I understand your concern, and appreciate it. The only thing that really tripped me up, was I've never ran strapped amps, so haven't had any hands-on experience with them, therefore it was taking me a little while to figure out exactly how they can be wired and so forth. Now just waiting on cv to confirm what actual strap-ability configurations are supported by their amps. I've measured, and after enclosure and amps are installed, I'll have ~9sq-ft of space to install batts....so even if cv says they don't support that type of strapping, I can just change over to a more realistic mild-spl setup. I prefer my stuff last years to come, than to do like the bread truck and blow it's shit with an accidental burp.

Call me stupid or a weirdo....but the primary goal is loud AND high quality sound....mostly going to be used as a demo vehicle at my work. I do custom interior/exterior lighting for vehicles, but mostly for sporttrucks and the like.

I did once before in 1999, CV strokers backed by linear power amps, in an 87 nissan hardbody convertible with blowthru ports, but each amp drove it's own sub with a 2ohm load....and yes it was loud as hell. I know exactly what you mean about talkers vs do'ers....I'll admit though, I'm definitely gonna be a talker before I do ANYTHING....I've made expensive decisions in the past that were incorrectly thought out and trying to avoid that this time, especially since I'll have $6800 in subs and amps alone. I cannot provide proof as of yet....when i get ahold of CV and confirm the 8 amps strapped to 8ohms "theory", then within a week(as long as the shipper doesn't drop my shit), I should have pics of the amps and subs. I was planning to wait until the last minute to purchase the amps/subs so they don't sit for a while waiting on the enclosure to be finished. That's wasting warranty periods lol.

That's how I was explained it worked from the people at Linear Power, specifically the ones in the sql scene. Hence the 8ohm wiring setup. Yes, we're currently designing the enclosure for the truck, 50" wide x 60" deep x 18" tall, made from 1" mdf. Approximately 25.78cu-ft unloaded.

The way I was explained, is that since higher ohm loads require more voltage, your amp can control your subs more precisely with higher voltage less current, than with a lower ohm load that requires less voltage and higher current. I can't remember exactly the words used, but it had something to do with higher current being better for long drawn out tones versus higher voltage being better for making your sub respond quicker to tone changes. If that makes sense....it took me a bit to figure out exactly what he meant, but it kinda makes sense now.

That's based on the simple calculation of doubling your power by strapping 2 together....when in most circumstances, the power isn't quite doubled....I haven't gotten CV to confirm how much it will actually output when strapping.

Yeah, in theory it'd be ~360v thru 8ohms. It's for better cone control.

If I wired subs to 4ohms each, then wired 4 together in series to make 16ohms......then I'd have 2 sets of 4subs, each set making 16ohms of load....wire those 2 sets in parallel to make 8ohms right? That also would most likely be the least amount of wire running right?

Hi, I have a question about strapping the s2000.1 amps....I know that if you strap 2 of them you get ~4kw at 2ohm stable....I also know that the amps are strappable in virtually an unlimited number. My desired "power @ ohm load" is 16kw @ 8ohms. Now, I know how to wire them so each amp is outputting at 1ohm....but does anyone know how to wire them so the ohm loads reach 8ohm for mono use? Hey, does anyone know of a wiring wizard that handles more than 4 subs? I'm wrecking my brain trying to figure out how to wire my subs to get the ohm load and on top of that, I'm needing to figure out which type of coils(dvc2 or dvc4) would allow the least amount of jumpers(to lessen the number of troubleshooting spots). If there was a program or list of diagrams that could be added as a sticky, I feel it would greatly benefit the sub/enclosure forum. So if anyone wants to wreck their brains and do some calculating(I got lost doing the figuring lol), then you're welcome to join in. My desired ohm load is 8ohms, with 8 subs wired to mono, do i need dvc2 or dvc4 coils, do i need to run a mix of dvc2 and dvc4 coils to achieve it, if so, how many of each type of coil?
