  1. since this seems like a very unjudgemental website, ill let you all know that im a recovering drug addict/alcoholic. Ive been through quite a few people passing whether it be natural causes or unnatural. And I don't know if this has been said, but death is not about mourning someones passing.

Its about celebrating the impact that they've had on YOUR life.

Sometimes people don't need to get their minds off it, they need to reminisce about the good times with that person.

  2. Anyone else out there specialize in pro/recorded audio for a living, or play/work with a band, or do anything related to fields like that? I'm in school in Chillicothe (Recording Workshop) & planning to continue on with my DJ/live sound business after this is done, or look for a studio job that will help fund it.

...I can't be the only one

Ironically I start school for mastering engineer on April 2nd.

And I do need more musicians for projects

  3. Its not so hard to build from scratch, and a pre assembled recone should have each spider glued to the spacer and all you do is glue it to the spider landing as well as gluing the surround to the basket edge. Finally, (with centered coil) put on the one piece cap and play.

Unless RE does something different IDK I've never reconed one of theirs.

now my lingo may be off, but i dont think the xxx series has the spiders glued together.

ill check and post a photo

yeah... spiders is why its apparently impossible to recone.

  4. yeah i have on a re xxx lol.

    you've reconed one?

Because its a lot longer, would he hard to center in the gap. The two sets of spiders might be hard to glue

yeah i thought about the dual spider thing, and i have no idea how i'd do that

other than set the bottom one, let it dry, then to the top one?

also, before i pulled out the cone/VC i pushed down on the cone (to try and make it bottom out) and it straight did not happen.

    :shok:

  5. pretty sure thats how the smd is

its the 12" re audio xxx

i decided i wanted to see what the VC looked like cause i know its not like normal subs,

but i did NOT expect this

That looks to be off an RE

I've seen them before, kinda rare IMO but neat none the less. Thanks for posting, I like to see split gap coils and variable density coils as well.-

    -Drew

i called RE today to ask how much a recone kit was,

and the guy (not greg) told me i should probably just send it in and let them do it due to the difficulty of reconing the xxx series.

is the split coil design why its so difficult to recone?

  6. Well... ill be completely honest.

    I was being straight retarded...

The negative output from my capacitor to amp fell out,

So I plugged it back in, and turned the sub on. Ugh....

    30 seconds later; smoke.

Also, I don't have an inline fuse between cap and amp (obviously I should)

E/: by the way neuman, ill sell you my blown on cheap.

Recone kits are available, I think possibly into even dual 1ohm

But don't quote me on that

  7. 54mm one way xmax! am i reading that wrong? that is over 4 inches of total throw i do not believe that.

    NEUMAN

    No you read that correctly.

Ive had 3 of the XXX12D2's.

    They flex a MASSIVE amount.

by the way o/p, XXX woofers are SQL not SPL

Ty sir, did not know that. I feel like the sub gets loud but only on certain songs. Coulda been the way I made the box too though

it does get very loud especially for an SQL speaker

From my experience with them, the 12's like ~4^3ft before displacement, and need at least a 4" wide port to breathe properly.

My box was tuned to 32.9hz, at loved frequencies in the range of 25-40hz, but would redoing to 70hz and less.

    goodluck with yours :)

I blew my last XXX out this afternoon, and am now woofer-less :'(

Let me know if you need any more info on the XXX series :)

  8. So about 25 minutes ago, I was being excrusiatingly dumb, and blew a VC in my RE audio XXX12D2.

My advice that's needed, is; should I prep it for a recone and sell basket & motor?

Or leave it as is and wait for someone to need it and sell to them?

My apologies if this is the wrong section. Still become accustomed to this site.
