  1. I'm curious what you're going to school for? The degree I mean. I went to school for two years, got two degrees and worked part-time at BK the whole time. I didn't need the degrees I got to get the job i have. I applied at an employment agency after school and they called me within a couple weeks with a job offer. Long story short, I'm still there (as a regular employee) about 20 months later.

I realize it's different for everybody. For me, two degrees just looks good on paper.

They don't mean spit to me as far as making me more money or getting me a good job.

I aim to major in Music Education and minor in Music Performance on tuba and bass, with a jazz certification on bass.

I have heard good things about Hardee's. It's very easy to become a shift manager and climb up the ladder to GM there, unless they just tell you they're gonna move you into management and use you like they did to my future brother-in-law. I bust my ass and do EVERYTHING by the book though, so I might give that a shot. I'm very customer oriented in my job because I know that it sucks ass when you get shitty service. I like to see when people keep coming back because I took the time to correct a mistake or whatnot, instead of being snobby and rude like the other people I work with. 9 times out of 10 when someone else is dealing with a customer and they get angry I can start talking to them and correct the problem and have them walk away completely happy, so that might help me move up faster if I can start working there. If that was the case, I'd just work my way up into upper management and do that. I actually enjoy my job as far as what I do, but I don't enjoy the place I work because of my irrational, idiotic managers and coworkers that make me feel like I'm in high school again.

    Fuckin' dumbasses....

  2. Man, I've considered taking the next semester off. I already put 5k into it, so I'm going back. I love to learn, and it's the only way to get ahead and get the job I want.

The labor rent would be the case if I stayed at my fiance's. I don't mind it at all. I already do work around the house when I'm there. I wouldn't even mind buying my own groceries and such. It'd just be a matter of her and her mom being ok with it. I mean, she said they'll help me out all they can, and the biggest help they can give right now is give me a place to stay until I get on my feet.

  3. lol dafuq? fiance? doesnt wanna live together?

Thought that myself. She's been pissy lately. Saying I'm "too clingy" and such.

"See? This what I'm talking about. I came down to my room to be alone for a second, and you followed me." Ummmm... I went down after she had been down for a few minutes because everyone upstairs was loud and annoying.... wtf?

Anyway... That's the only real place I have to go out here. I could move to Marietta with my aunt, but I go to school in Carrollton (for anyone who knows where stuff is in GA).

  4. It is scary as fuck. I have honestly never been this scared in my life. My absolute last option is military. If you ask anyone that really knows me they'll tell you straight away I DO NOT do military.

We've been trying to get shit caught up. We got way behind on payments and shit... And auction is July 3rd, so we've gotta get everything out by then... :(

Still waiting on an amended tax return to get a few other things straight. Found some nice places if I could get some cash. Found a double wide half the size of the one we're in now on a nice half acre for $5k maybe 5 minutes away from here, and it's closer to school. Just don't have any money, and need a place to stay until I do...

  5. It's officially come down to the wire and I've gotta move. Going alone this time instead of with my dad. It's getting hard. It's scary as fuck. I don't have an official place to stay yet. I thought I'd be moving in at my fiance's place until I got some money put back and got on my feet good, but I haven't spoken with her mom about it yet and she "doesn't feel like our relationship is ready for us to live under the same roof yet." Pfft... My parents moved in together after 6 months and were married 22 years. Not ready for living under the same roof after 2.5 years my ass...

Unfortunately, my work gives me no hours as well. I'm making MAYBE $400 a month right now, so sharing rent with pretty much anyone is out of the question. Fuckers... I asked to be full time. I don't recall full time being 16.5hrs a week. I have a good friend trying to help me get on at the O'Charlie's washing dishes for $10/hr for about 30 hours a week though. I already wash plenty of dishes at BK for minimum wage, so it's nothing I'm not used to.

Wish me luck guys. Gotta be a big boy from here on out. I'm not sure what my dad's gonna do, but I've got my own life with my own problems to straighten out and I have no answers to my own problem. I can't help him if I can't help myself.

  6. Yeah I was worried about the vs thread thing after I posted all the other companies with prices. I'm mainly looking at price for power. I'm trying to keep it at a good budget, around or a little over $3k before wood. Which I've pretty much managed.

They look pretty legit. It'll be close to a year before I do anything though, so I've got time to think it over.

  7. Are they any good? I haven't seen too many builds on here using them, if any. I really want to give them a shot. I wanna try 15" GCons. I mean, look at power vs. price for that range of power handling.

    SSA GCon $230 750w

    Sundown SA $235 600w

    Skar VVX $235 600w

    AA Chaos $280 800w

That's the prices I got from SSAs site.

Looking at that, it looks like a great choice. I mean, I definitely wouldn't wanna pay $5 more for 150w less power handling, or $50 more for only 50w more. I have considered giving Daytons a shot. They have a few that range from $160-210 a piece that handle 800w, but they are made for home audio or PA setups so I feel kinda sketchy about it.

Plus ScottishBear kinda walled his Malibu with them and I don't wanna feel like I'm copying anyone...

Back on topic, are they a good buy? The main thing I'm looking for is performance vs. price. I intend to run 4 off of a Hifonics Colossus at ~800w a piece, and I don't think ~50w over rms will hurt them. I've seen vids of the higher end SSAs like the XCon or ZCons, just not and of the GCons. I just want to try something different from everything else I've seen. But what do you guys that have more experience think? I'm working on a tight budget here.

  8. Man, if I had the money and lived in the area, I'd leave a car with you and say "Have fun! Let me know when to come pick it up!"

those are the builds i like doing :D

I'd love to see what you could do with a little Malibu. You got ALOOOT of creativity man. It gives me a lot of ideas and different perspectives on how to do things. The only thing keeping me from running with the big dogs right now is money. If it wasn't for that, I'd say to hell with it and start building.

  9. Hopefully somebody can come along. Even if it goes into general audio. I'm not really trying to start a build log, I already have one. I just wanted to post some future plans. So I wasn't exactly sure where this goes, that's why it's here.

Man, I'm stuck on my subs... Someone else used Dayton on here and it turned out pretty well, but for one I don't really wanna feel like I'm copying anybody and two they're really made for home stereo use. Atleast the one's I'm looking at. So... I'm really stuck between the Daytons and GCons. I've seen the higher end Cons (X and Z) do some serious damage, but I can't find anything on the GCons. No vids or anything.

  10. I have almost everything together for my big rebuild next year and I'm pretty much right on with my budget. I'm going with a ported wall.

    So far:

    Dayton Speakers-

    4 DC25t 1" titanium dome tweeters

    8 DC160 6.5" Mids

    4 RS225 8" Midbass

    4 RSS390HO 15" Subs

    Hifonics Amps-

    2 GLX60.4 (Highs and Mids)

    1 GLX100.4 (Midbass)

    1 Colossus (Subs)

    Power-

    1 XS D925

    2 XS D1200

    1 Mike Singer 230A Alt

    Processors-

    TBD

I haven't worked up a price on wood and fiberglass yet, but the plan is to put one 8, one 6.5, and one tweeter in each door, a 6.5 and tweet beside or on each a pillar, then 4 6.5s and 2 8s at the top of the wall (on their own baffle, NOT SHARING THE BOX WITH THE SUBS) with the 8s at the corners and the 6.5s in between them. I'm running the door and dash 6.5s on the front channel and the 4 6.5s behind on the rear channel of one 60.4 wired at 2 ohms per channel, and the tweets off the other 60.4 wired at 4, one per channel. The midbasses will also be stereo and front/rear by being run off the 100.4 (one per channel), and the subs will be run down to 1 ohm off the Colossus. All in all, 4320w rms.

The good news is that I kept the speakers, amps, and power part of my budget right where I wanted it. Now to make some money and start buying supplies....

  11. He's up in Ohio. Just google singer alternators and go to his website and fill out the info. Year, make, model... If he doesn't have a template for it, he'll ask you to send a picture of the alternator (out of the car) just so he can get the case design and all that good stuff.

Ah ok. Maybe they were talking about a different Singer... Oh well. I'll look into that. The mechman for my car is over $400.
