  1. ok. yeah low isnt the goal. its just versatility. shes doesnt have mids and highs. well not after market. they sound ok but this isnt a SQ just not a full basshead set up haha. im thinking tune to 34-36 and seal from trunk. any recom on box size? its an m1 so idk if that matters. and like i said its gettin 1k outta the underrated 1200.

  2. Hey guys. just got a dc lvl 4 10 m1 D2 for my sister. going to be going into a mazda 626 es. the back seats do fold down. will be powered buy concept hpn 1500. prob get around 1k clean so it'll be underpowered especially because they are known to handle more. . . she listens to all types of music. nothing low really just average music listener. id like to do sub forward as well as port and seal it off from the trunk. max dim are 12-15 high. anything deep. and 35 wide. any help or suggestion on ideas would be awesome. havnt done a sealed from runk before. . . is it that much better?

  3. right now i have a 99 grand cherokee with 1 dc lvl 4 18 m2. i want to get a 2nd. and even 3 more for 4 total. . . if i do do 4. then i am going to b pillar wall as there is no way i can fit a 24 cube box in the rear lol. but if i cpllar 2 lvl 4s i can make it work. would it be benificial to do a cpillar or no?

  4. Basically i want to add some nice strong clear mids and highs to my system. right now i have big 3. DC level 4 18, American bass HD3500. stock speakers. my kenwood deck has 3 outs so thats good.. . . i was thinking about adding some 8's 6.5's and tweets in the front doors. and some basic (well still decent) 6.5 components in the rear doors. i have a 99 jeep grand cherokee. going to do some modifying to the doors panels so dont worry about depth and such. i want an active front stage and passive rear. i am thinking a 4 channel for my 8's and 6.5's and a 2 channel for my tweets. and then a 2 channel for the rear. the more i look i see the that 8's are basically big 6.5's, as far as freq response so why are they good to have? any suggestions on what i should get would be very heplful as im very very new to this. budget is about 150 for eack pair ( 8's, 6.5s, tweets, and rear 6.5s) so 600 total. amps i havnet gotten to haha

and id really like the brand of the speakers to match each other justsayin

  5. everything flat. That measns bass and treble at '0', not -8 and -4. Leave your gain all the way down. Play the tone you want, and slowly increase the gain until the clip light comes on. Then back it down a notch.

Are you using a remote bass knob?

Are your speakers hooked up when you are setting the amp? Should not have subs hooked up.

Is your car off? Should be off.

car is usually on, why would i want it off? and sub isnt hookhed up. and no bass knob, only gain. which i put in the middle, but never go above that either. . . as far as the EQ. i turned them down when i did the amp, didnt see the matter but ok ill leave it flat until after amp is set
  6. the only thing i see is to keep the eq flat until after i set the amp gains. . . ive done it both ways and haven't noticed a difference in gain on the amp. . everything else i did seems to be correct

after work im going to switch my wire. and DD1 it all again but i mean ive done it like 50 times to see if i did it wrong so :/

  7. imma try the wire upgrade ( was doing that anyways, tune to -5db (still a 4 or so db jump. and ill tune with sub hooked up. and the song i can notice it one is play my game by gucci which i got from a decaf zip also the song play my game by dorrough, same zip. . . those are just some i noticed the smell

  8. What do you have it wired to?

wire down to one ohm. .

3500w RMS isn't a small amount to run to a single level 4. Probably just a little too much power, turn down your gain a hair. And don't play full tilt 24/7

its and american bass HD 3500. . 1600rms at 1ohm not 3500. so even so in perfect world its getting 200rms more (prob more like getting 1300-1400rms clean)
  9. track 1 to find head unit white is a Kenwood KDC352u (i belive) thats 40hz at 0db (just to confirm) deck doesnt clip on EQ all at 0. so then i turn bass to -8 mid to -4 and treble is at 0.

i go to my amps, turn my gain knob (not bass boost) to half and use track 5 40hz at -10db i believe. . . and usually i back it down a hair, so its more than -5db but not quite -10. . sub isnt hooked up when i do so and voltage sits around 13.45 when i do it

  10. You know for a fact it's the coil?

i guess not no. i do not know for a fact its the coil. but i figured it was, i smelled the wire and couldnt really smell anything, smelled amp, nothing. but the dust cap to the sub gets hot thats why i thought it was the coil. old sub did it to, (skar vvx 15, diff amp but still DD1)
  11. Just got a new Level 4 18 D2. and a new american bass HD 3500. when i play full tilt, after a minute or so i can smel the coil. . .amp and HU are tuned with DD1. Box is tuned to 32hz and is 6 net cubes. basic l port. . . the wires for sub are cheap 16 gauge (dont get hot though) and 8 gauge came in today. . . stock everything except for big three. . .

voltage sits around low 13's on full tilt and some notes will even go down to 12.8 . . . someone said that its cuz im tuning amp without speaker hooked up and when my voltage drops its dirty singnal. . does this sound correct? if so i thought with the dd1 when voltage drops amps would still be clean, less power? or does it in fact turn dirty on low voltage?

  12. lol im not sure i guess. . . read it kinda quickly. i know as ohms drop current rises, which is the whole point of running lower ohms. but did you mean current draw on my amp from battery and such increase as well?

    answered, ninja'd. thanks guys!
