  1. I have been doing some work with Google sketch-up here and there but I know there a lot of tools I could be using that I don't know how to access. I was hoping maybe somebody might have a good enclosure build for a 12" sub relatively close to the Fi Q 12. Fi's website says this sub likes to be in roughly 1.8 cuft-2.5 @ 28-Hz. I know the power that the sub gets is an important factor into making the box but I don't understand why? I made one for my friend who has the exact same sub at 1.8 cu ft NET ported and just put a little massive audio N2 amp to test it out since its all we had. The amp RMS's at 800 watts and I could feel the dust cap already getting a little warm, isn't this thing supposed to be able to handle like 2000 RMS? I was gonna slap in my JL 1000/1 but have been have trouble tuning that thing in itself, and since the massive audio amp was making the sub warm, i figured it might be a bad idea. I feel like this sub should be delivering more than what I am hearing from my friends system he has in now, so maybe a differant box is needed? or a better amp? The max dimensions I am working with could be of 2 different boxes. First in a 10 depth x 20 height or width, x 30 height or width. Or second in a 16.5 height x 14 depth x 24 width. ANY type of box that you think may be preferable for this sub will be good advice and if you need to know any more information I will give. Your help is much appreciated! thanks.
  2. Looking for something optimal in a sealed enclosure, my max volume is .65 cu ft before sub displacement so ANY sub that works well in a sealed box at around that volume or lower i will be interested. Thanks
  3. Looking for a 10 inch sub primarily. but something that works good in sealed around .5 cu ft net volume. Budget is around $150 since thats what I could get a brand new Fi X 10 for. thanks!
  4. Okay well what 10 will work with roughly .5 cu ft ported? and do around 600-800 rms?
  5. any 8s or 10s you would recommend with the amount of air space ported tho? Ive been trying to browse around on PE edit: depends on the length of the aero and size of it.
  6. Have a massive audio N2 mono amp that RMS's at 800 watts. Looking for a sub or subs that can fit behind the seat of a single cab Toyota pickup (1987). Conveniently the space behind the seat is alright but I want to go as SMALL as POSSIBLE. There is a spine in the middle behind the seat so I am going to have to do two boxes (if I chose 2 subs) or one box on one side of the spine (if its a 10 or a 12 that can suffice with the box volume). My external MAX dimensions with my seat position preference are as follows: H-15", W-17" Top depth-4", bottom depth-8". this ends up with a gross volume of .54 cu ft. PER BOX, not sure if there is a 10 or 12 sub out there that is gonna work on roughly .45-.5 net volume on 800 rms? IF there is one that requires just a tad bit more volume, I can make adjustments and get a bit more volume out of it. I'm not sure on which direction to go from here, what would you do? 6 1/2's x2 or x3? 8's x1 or x2, 1 10? or 1 12? Porting may be difficult so hopefully something that would like to be sealed and some poly-fill? I'm working with about $150-$200 here so it doesn't have to be anything awesome, I'd just like more bass in my truck to go with my 6 1/2's x 4 in the doors and my tweets. thanks! If there is any more information that is needed, please let me know.
  7. Okay so ive been doing loads of research on parts-express and so forth on finding a sub for a 1974 MGB. I really only want something super small and getting something for better sound quality than just two 6.5's in the doors. Behind the seats is a bit of space but want to keep mostly the stock look. However, there is a compartment where a second battery used to sit that is no longer there and I think I could find a small box in there. I measured the dimensions and can get about .15-.18 cuft gross airspace without making anything look out of the ordinary. I havent found much for the 8 inch woofers or subs that will suffice in that airspace, however there are various ones in the 6.5 woofer range that may work but I was hoping i could get some advice on here for direction. Also I would need a small cheap amp to match with whatever sub I can get in there as well, so information on that would be handy. Another thing I meant to mention is that this is a convertable with a soft top, so im sure that may effect the SQ as well. Your help is much appreciated! thanks!
  8. Looking for a single din head unit with 3 pair outputs, good amount of equalizers, decent amount of color options, 3.5mm aux input on the front. Deck cannot look beaten or super worn. Im not looking for something amazing either, it will be put in 1 of 3 vehicle being a 1974 MG, a 1987 toyota pick-up, or a 1999 Ford Ranger x-cab. so it wont be playing on a huge system, just something convenient to get me by. I was definitely looking into the pioneers or JVCs on sonicelctronix but didn't know if I wanted to spend up to $150 on one. Lemme know what you got, thanks!
  9. Title says it all, ive been searching in parts express and there is some good stuff for cheap but I wanted to see if anybody here first might have something to my interests. Anything from the DD 6.5, to the JL 6w3, or anything on parts express that has 6.5 woofers I will be interested in. MY enclosure i am working with however is confined to about .15-.2 cuft of space so if your sub is not specified to run in that amount I am not interested. I will also need an amp to accompany this woofer, anything that RMS's in the 50-250 watt range will suffice; thanks!
  10. would 1 focal be my best bet? even if my budget was roughly like $50?
  11. Okay so I am looking to do some work on a 1974 MG B for my brother as a gift. there is a compartment behind the passenger seat that I could fit about .15-.1-8 cu ft box in and was hoping to find a small sub that I could get him something a little beyond a typical door speaker. First I need to know if this is even possible, and secondly what would you guys recommend for a 6.5? Ive been looking around on my own and most people are throwing these into home audio system in huge ported or T-line enclosures and there is no specs for sealed. Secondly, would there be a good amp to match this for a cheap price as well? your input is much appreciated.
  12. alright cool, you guys have been a huge help! thanks alot. =D
  13. Hmm the fuse rating is a very good thought, but I don't know if that size goes any higher than 40A a piece? I will try those tuning specs for sure, if I have a bass knob, does that effect my bass boost or how do I adjust it then? These are my box specs: VB: 1.72 cuft Tuned at 38hz. port is slotted at 4 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall, I think the length is roughly 30.5 inches? I got the box build on a personal message after posting I needed help in the forum.
  14. yea i just got em in a proper box today and listened to em for a bit. was extreeemly impressed but im possitive my amp is tuned wrong or power acoustic just isnt producing a good amp...still not sure on that one because I know alot of sonic electronix products arnt rated true (or so ive heard).
  15. thanks a bunch! I saw that on the website and it got good reviews for it. Right now im running a power acoustic BAMF 2000, and i don't think it runs rated power or voltage, im not sure. However, I think i could get this amp well under $100 so was gonna see if it was worth it. It will be power two DD 1508's so the final ohm load will indeed be 1ohm.
  16. I have a friend selling this for pretty cheap and I was just curious if it was a decent amp and worth my money? Ive never got to hear it or play with it so i was hoping somebody could tell me something about massive audio or this amp specifically. thanks!
  17. Hello, I currently have two DD 1508's and am looking for a ported box that holds both 8's. My zip code is 96130 to help calculate shipping. Please respond with specific details (tuning, dimensions, wood used, so forth) and we can discuss prices, thanks! Box plans for the 8's would also be usefull as well.
  18. Does it add any performance to the sub?
  19. yea i dont care what brand makes the recone, I just want to get this thing running again. =D thanks!
  20. Okay so today I showed up to my house with a free blown sub at my door and was wondering if there is a recone kit available for it. It is a Audiobahn 12" Eternal series (AWES12p) and I dont think audiobahn makes them anymore because they came out with a new immortal series. I don't know how to tell if the motor is still good but I assume it is due to the coil being the only thing that looked bad. So yeah, I would be needing the whole recone (coil, dustcap, cone/foam surround, spider, and so forth). Im almost possitive the coil is 2.5 inches in diameter (measured with measuring tape). Let me know if I let out any information. Your help is much appreciated, thanks!
  21. ya i wish i could have gotten them when they were cheap.
  22. Thinking of Tang bands, DD 1508's, Sundowns, DC's, or Alpines. lemme know thanks!
