12v to 14v?

So essentially... if I want to run @ 14v, I just need 12v batteries and to have the car on, and charging? Without having to do any kind of other changes? -
Hey, I'm kind of a noob to the whole stereo thing, and I see people testing voltage at both 12v and 14v... What's the difference? How do I convert my car to go from 12v to 14v output? And 16v? Thanks in advance for the help!
