  1. Lol I'm terrible at updating build logs. I haven't had time to do much, and I'm waiting for stuff to come in.

But I did get RCA's and remote wire ran last night, RF bass knob mounted and RCA level knob for the sub amp mounted.

    Here's some pics:

Put a couple switches in the console lid, one for mute wire on the 4200 and one for remote wire on the sub amp

Cut and carpeted this board, think I'll mount the T3002 here

And picked up this to go in the back, plan for a few more in the future

I got 25 sq feet of Audio Technix 60 mil on the way, and a Viper 5901 I snagged on ebay for $189

Got my tweeters, all the speaker wire I should need, ports. Should be building soon, gotta build a 4th order for my cousin too.

Also my T4004 has something wrong with it, so I'm trying to get that sorted out with the guy I got it from.

  2. did you try a differnt speaker that one looks like will sound like ass no matter what

Tried it on a new CDT HD-6 the other day, no difference.

caps can go bad without showing any physical signs. that would be my guess too, bad cap. but thats just a guess.

Yeah so I'm told. It sounds like a bad cap, I can get the right rear to clean up but none of the others.

I had a similar problem with the amp i currently have and when i took it in they said i had a cap that was bad along with a broken solder joint on the power transformer, you'll want to find a local repair shop and see what they say. Not quite sure if your model is one of the newer rockfords that repair shops won't touch anymore.

My uncle has a friends that's fixed a couple amps for him, probably gonna take it to him and see if he can find anything.

  3. why are you bridging the amp have you tried with out it being bridged?

I've tried it every way possible, ran mono on each channel, bridged the front, bridged the rear. Only thing that cleans up is the right rear channel if I run signal to it for a while.

That amp Is not bridgeable so that's where I would start...

Edit I take that back.. I was wrong

I know for a fact it's bridgeable lol.

  4. I get to watch another one of these built.....Well if u ever deside to do 4 of those subs I have the plans still used in mine.

Haha been looking at yours, thing looks SICK. And 'preciate it, I don't know if I'll ever go that big, but if I ever do I'll def. hit you up.

Nice to see you using the older processor..

    Jay

Thanks, was heavily searching for a H701/controller combo, but everyone wanted way too much, came across this EPX2 and picked it up. It'll do all I need, wish it had time alignment but it'll do, still give me all the crossover/eq I need. It has the 28 band eq card.

  5. Picked up an Xterra a few weeks ago.

It's a 2000, one owner, very clean. Love it so far.

    Plans are:

    DD2515 in a 4th order

    RF T10001bd

    CDT HD-6's

    RF T3002 for midbass

    Hertz Hi-Energy Tweeters

    RF T4004 for tweeters/rear speakers

    RF EPX2 for processing

    AVH-P4200DVD

Couple D1200's or similar in the rear

  6. Yeah, idk what it could be, it almost is like a scratchy pot, but it never cleans up. I kinda think it's a cap that's bled down, the front hald of the amp is even worse. I might hook it up to my headunit with 4v pre outs and hit it hard with some signal and see if it'll clean up. Maybe someone can shed some light on the situation.

  7. I just got a T4004 in a trade, amp is in great shape, really clean inside, nothing burnt/discolored, no swollen caps. But the sound that comes out is majorly distored and cuts out sometimes.

Here's a video, source is an ipod, I checked everything here with a t3002 and it was clean, so I know it's the amp.

edit: I fail at embed FML

double edit: this time the distortion isn't the camera mic
