  1. if your battery is dying within a day you got issues lol big issues..and its always good to keep your batts topped off especially with a stock alt and stock batt..its good for the health of the batteries... alts arent perfect at charging batts...theres a thread (its stickied at the top of this section) that explains it in more detail

Wasn't me with the battery dying in one day issue.

So if alts aren't perfect @ charging batteries, what would be recommended to keeping my kintetik topped off?

  2. Okay, so I had purchased a Kinetik 1800 and I went to go install it up front last tuesday, but it happened to be a good 4" taller than my stock and I'd have to literally bend my hood to even make it fit.

So I decided I was going to go ahead and run it in the back.

Well, my second ANL Fuse should be here tomorrow morning.

I plan to from it parallel from stock to kinetik in the rear with the 2 ANL fuses in between the two.

My question is, is this a terrible idea & why? Are there other options? ( will not bother with an isolator as I find it to be an incredible waste of money & at that point I'd rather buy another battery. )

I have more important things to worry about, so the purchase of another battery is kind of out of the question.

Edit: Keep in mind that my car comes with a stock 150A alternator.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend trying Sundown. I had just installed my two SA-12s yesterday and they sound fucking magnificent.

They're so clean sounding & get so loud even with the bass knob all the way down and gain half way up.

What kinda amp? Alot of amps either the bass knob controls gain (all the way up is where you set your gain on your amp, and down is all the way down on gain) or some of them are bass boost. If its boost leave it down...and if its gain..than you effectively have the gain all the way down by having the knob down.

    brz 2100.

Then you remote is adjusting the gain...so if you have it all the way down your gain is down. Iif your gain is where it should be... than when you get to 3/4 or so on the knob it is like unpluggin it or having it at whatever your gain adjustment on the amp is. I used to use my knob to turn it down on bass intensive songs and than I could put it back to normal for regular music.

I didn't set my gain with a DD-1 or anything, I just set it to the 12 o clock position and called it a day.

I don't exactly know where the 2 volt mark is or where it would be, so I just set it to what I thought wouldn't be too much.

I usually keep it all the way down and turn it up when on the freeway and whatnot,

I will get flamed for this probably but cheap mans way....play a test tone with gain all the way down..Head unit up to where you think distortion starts. Slowly turn the gain up until the cone on your subs does not travel any farther...like they hit a peak excursion wise...back the gain off some and call it a day just dont get too happy with it and you should be alright....

Not perfect but should get you by. I dont have a DD-1 yet or access to an oscope or a way to clamp it so I have been doing this for a while. Man I can already feel someone glaring at my advice right now getting ready to put it on blast but when you can only spend 500$ on your setup a DD-1 or oscope is out of budget.

My friend out in Pontiac knows this kid Kyle who tunes your amp with a DD-1 for 15 dollars. Just gotta get the gas money to go out there.

id like to hear them. will you be at the taylor show? maybe you can hear my new build with 2 DD 12s while your there. haha

OP how big do you plan on going? sundown saves some space but you still cant cram a 15 in 3 cubes.

    When is it?

I don't plan on competing as I'm just a daily driver, but sure I wouldn't mind hearing some DDs.

You gonna stop me? How ban me enough of your sundown nut hugging quit licking nuts if that's all your gonna say then don't post at all

    IB4L sucka

No? How am I Sundown nut hugging? I literally just obtained & installed them and quite frankly I think they're great subs.

It's my personal opinion, I forgot I wasn't entitled to it & allowed to give it without being considered a 'nut hugger'.

  7. I'm going for the same setup with 3 SA-12s.

I just threw in my 2 12s yesterday and honestly they're more than enough.

I'm running a BRZ2100.1D atm. My subs are D2 so they're being ran @ 2 ohms right now.

SA-8s look sexy, but the 12s fucking slam.

Never heard an 8 so I can't really give much opinion on them. But the cone area on the 12s will def be superior vs the 8s.

  8. So, I've scrapped the whole bolt terminal idea..

My Sub & new Batt is going to be here within an hour or two.

I'm just going to run my wires straight through the box, gonna drill a whole..

So, what should I use to seal it up?

Fiberglass resin is probably out of the question as I don't think I have that in my garage & I'm pretty much out of money.

I do however think I've seen some wood glue, but idk how well that will hold up, or even seal off the hole if that.

  9. I'll be soldering the wires to the terminal, instead of crimping. So it'll be a decent connection.

I plan on using Copper Bolts.

I just want to know how many bolts I would need to be able to change between .5 & 2 ohms. I'll be running 2 ohm for the time being, I just want the option to change, without having to remove the subs from the box.

  10. Okay, so I want to install some copper bolts as terminals for my box.

How many do I need for 2 subs & how exactly do I use them?

Idk why, but my brain just cannot process how exactly I wire them.

Each sub to each bolt terminal, assuming I only need 2. But then how do I wire them to 1 2 or .5 ohms from there?

    Pics would be helpful.

  11. Bump.

Looking to buy 1-2 ASAP depending on price requested.

    Cash ready!

Will check in after work. ( 6-7 hours from this post )

Was impatient, bought them brand new.

    Closed.
