  1. my last thread i said the amp size=power is bs.....well technically it is, the formula of "x10" is only valid to a 4-ohm load, and even then it deflects 10% anyway...my p1000.1bd is rated to run 1k rms at 1ohm...well it was benched at over 12xx rms and runs NO FUSES! (but it did blow a 100amp inline a few times, 150amp ANL on it now) none of rockfords amps do anymore... so basically a van with whatever in it at 30k watts total is better than o idk lets say the Rockford Soundlab van which is rated for 10k rms and 20kpeak but is probably truely running closer to 26k peak and i'm sorry I have heard some loud shit but nothing like sitting in that sound lab.--haha should pull this because i'm sure there is going to be 20 ppl say their shit is louder, but it's gonna be funny I stand by the fuse size being some form of bs (TO AN EXTENT!! as there is far too many ppl that just have this assumption that 30amps means 300 watts MAX no questions asked...and thats def not accurate--kinda like when ppl say plywood is stronger than osb or hdf or an aluminum coil is better than copper...or round is better than flat coils, i mean when this info is passed to someone who has no idea about the stuff they just believe it because "thats what the guy online told me" )....at 4-ohms it seems to work out--and duh 4-ohms is the standard for a stereo equipment resistance, whos uninformed now?--but when you run down to 2 or 1 or .5, the quality and capabilities of the internal components make all the difference in the world. Just so I can further back my findings...a fosgate 300.1 was run also showing 48x watts rms at 2-ohms when it's advertised at 300 watt rms at said load. kenwood amp tested....rated to be 500 rms at 4 ohm bridged...ran 480 at ohm rms with a single 40amp fuse...I mean I can go on and run some more amps down to my buddy and they can get run as well, but at this point I don't see the point in it.... BTW everything was done at 14 volts with 180 amps available for current... run through a 0/0 gauge of copper wire and grounded with 0/1...
  2. ok so basically I have been seeing a lot and I mean A LOT of ppl telling others "your amp is overrated because it only has x fuses and they are x amps then muliply 10 and thats its power" this is sooo stupid...so an amp with 2 30amp fuses makes 600 watts max apparently lol. haha just the last one I read. ok well if your reading this let me get to the point....fuses have very VERY little to do with an amps ability to collectivly capture and discharge energy, a fuse is simply a over-current or surge-protection feature if you will. yes amps blow fuses all the time when they are over--run but this is mostly due to the fact they start to pull too much power-and to be CLEAR I say power and I mean CURRENT-power is going to remain in the 12-14volt range period...amperage is a measure of current on a line...most of the time its a thermal issue on the fuse popping thing...I hope someone proves me wrong about this...because I have 3 different amps with NO fuses in them that are UNDERRATED they actually make much more power than their model numbers and even specs would lead you to believe. Just because an amp has a set fuse number and amperage it can/does/and is safe for the electrical components inside, does not and never will...except maybe a chinese amp...have any bearing on the circuits ability to change that current its bringing in into a usuable wattage for sound.
  3. Ok so I'm pretty sure Sundown SA series 12's are not going to be any better than what I have even on that Soundstream amp which who knows what it actually puts out....I know with absolute certainty that the Fosgate amps...depending on year and series....do make what they claim and more at RMS and at Peak. plus I'll have to fandangle that kid to get what I want outta the deal...I cannot see me spending more than a 100 for each of those subs and his amp, but he wants 500 for subs amp box I don't need or whant and a huge 100lb c&d battery I don't need nor do I want...and with noone really passing on any knowlege here except for their bias opinion...*cough* team sundown *cough*, but I do appreciate the idea there.....I haven't heard anything informative...and I'm not in the market for another let down...guess i'm going with 2 Rockford Fosgate Power T1D412's OR 2 12" P3D412's(maybe get the P3D212-2 ohm version..these are what I blew..but I think it was all the moisture from the trunk bottom being full of water in the year the car sat) run it on the p1000.1bd amp that reads 1250ish watts at 1ohm RMS and hit a peak wattage of 2200+ watts @1ohm stable at 4Ohm it shows 450ish watts continuous or RMS and peaked ain the cool 800 watt area(this is powering my JL's right now)...I'm just going to get a second amp and modify it the same way as the one I currently run. run my 0/0 line when I do the carpet and rear seat "cutting"-I'm turning a bench seat into basically the 40 part of a 60/40 split rear seat so I can still have people ride if necessary-putting the subs facing into the cabin, amps will be where the seat part of the rear seat was-fiberglassed and carpeted, maybe hang the kinetic 1200 battery and RF 10 Farad Capacitor on the pillar of the back seat opening...I do want it all to be Fosgate Punch stuff and it be a shame to put the power subs in when everything else is so close to being complete...That be a pretty cool setup in a coupe rite? I mean I do
  4. well...I spent a decent bit of time and effort on it with my dad when I had the washout...prob make him feel some kind of way..idk he's pretty proud of it and so am I actually it's my third box, but for sure my nicest and it's not even carpeted yet--HDF board from a desk-'woodgrain' finish ...I think it's a pretty good design, I pulled ideas and concepts, measurements, ect. from many places for weeks before I committed, though it may need one more "pass" or "wall" on the inside as its just an "L" design right now...and it could be wider...na I don't feel like doing that again haha that's an option reserved for "if the oportunity presents itself" like a deal that's too good to be true pops up while i'm still going nuts online looking and looking and looking...
  5. I am...I just had It in a box I scavenged through 2 months ago when I had to rip everything out because my trunk leaked....I am probably going to replace the main battery with a deep cycle and add a kinetic battery in the trunk
  6. I been thinking about selling it all haha.... I have the knowlege/time and ability to do it all, I have front and rear components RF Punch line in the car already with 200watt RMS 2channel in front and in rear-10 interior speakers in all--kinda why maybe I might just get two more RF P3's...maybe run 3 of them this time? Oops I have a Triple shared air space sealed 12" box in the closet too I forgot to mention I have never ever looked into these brands until recently: RE-Sundown-DC-DD-Lanzar So basically If anyone has experience with these I'd like to know how they compaire to specifically Rockford Fosgates P3 and T1 as well as JL's W6v2 and Pioneers TSW 3000 (sorry I'm not sure the exact model but they are in a box already in the backseat of a mustang sitting in storage And currently two people are trying to sell me something worth building off of RF T1D4 12"-2 $400 2 Sundown SA-12's with a Soundstream amp in a ported box supposedly tuned in the low 30's with a the trx 1500 and a 139 ah c&d battery-100lbs by itself..not really wanting that though...asking 500obo prob offer like 350 for subs and amp maybe 400, but will I be dissappointed...when compaired with the others...maybe a Z series sundown? like I said I just never heard them or know anyone who has, I would like to order subs over the weekend or next week at latest.
  7. I want to go as big as I can, but no JL prices ever again 400 for one 12...no way. I have approx 1.6-1.8 cubic feet per sub thats useable. everything can be changed later except the subs and the box. and the amp or amps will be bought to match whatever I get..I was going to do a full Rockford Fosgate 'Punch' series setup going...but maybe do something different now...or say screw it and just get another set of P3's and save all this for the next car maybe... I would like to not build another in this vehicle again, gotta move on to other projects....O and american bass is another company i'm looking into.
  8. umm yeah I guess I am in the end...but that would be nuts with all the different options I have and can get I didn't really want it to get too crazy I guess. And I only say out of the loop and other because the shops up here are small so they don't know about these companies that aren't "mainstream" or whatever you would like to call it. I have the JL's and they were a lot and didn't make me happy, I had 2 12" Rockford P3's I blew out before them...basically the same, but the RF's were louder I think with the same quality
  9. good call...I got distracted for a second...shoulda been the first thing I asked
  10. I'm about to build another system and i'm starting to give consideration to going to "other" brands--like sundown, dc, re, ect-rather than JL, RF, ect.., but I never really looked into them and just wanna get some input from a reputable forum....and I joined this one. So...my most recent setups and what I have is probably the best place to start.... In the car-just kinda threw it in there from what I had in the closet Rockford Fosgate p1000.1bd amp-1000+Watt RMS 2 JL W6 Ported box--shared air space, center slot vented, labyrinth internal porting-1 wall 2 farad cap Forgot about -- RF punch front/rear components with crossovers RF punch 200-2 amps front and rear 225 amp alternator 0/0 charging and ground wires underhood 4 gauge to car's factory electric block from battery have to run the 0/0 back to the amp yet (2awg now)..but i'm going to redo the distribution setup under the hood first What I have laying around 2 12" Pioneer tsw3000 something or another--they are HUGE 2 12" Audiobahn Alum12n 1 Lanzar Max something or another Lanzer pro 4000watt amp or something, it's supposed to be a 4000watt amp I guess JL JL2 1000watt RMS monoblock amp What i'm looking at 2 Fosgate 12" T1 2 12" Sundown SA-12 with Soundstream TRX-1500.1 amp--I don't know the specs on the amp...I assume its a 1500watt RMS amp ?? So you probably guessed I wanna run 2 12's...I will most likely get amps to match the subs I choose later, but basically i'm going for loud as possible in a trunk as I can while maintaining sound quality...any input is awesome...unless you just wanna be a dick...in that case just do us all a favor and log off....but yeah thanks in advance
  11. I do know that is an excessive amount of air space for a 12 which is really the only point i'm trying to make...how bout you quit bein a dick and stick to the topic
  12. i'm not honestly sure lol the website wasn't really coming up the right way on my computer....but that's sounding low to me....but I'm not sure that 12's need 2 cubic feet of airspace though
  13. that is most likely too much air space for a pair of 12s...i'll look for specs for you...well the 18's are 2.0 cubic feet, 15's 1.9, so the 12's probably 1.7-1.8ish per sub I imagine i'm assuming you bought a system recently?
