  1. I'm doing some research and I'm interested in some numbers I'm not finding on your website.

Can you tell me the efficiency and THD of the 9k, 7.5k, 5k @ 2 ohm and 1 ohm?

Also, what's the efficiency of the 175.4 @ 4 ohms?

    Thanks.

ETA: One more question, lets say the amp is being driven by a pure 50hz frequency.

Is the output of the amp also a sine wave?

  2. I would like to know the time it takes for a fully charged 3100 to go from a fully charged state to 10.5 volts under the following continuous loads:

    50 amp

    100 amp

    150 amp

    200 amp

    250 amp

    Thank you!

ETA: If the voltage potential across the battery falls below 10.5 volts at the higher loads please disregard those data points.

  3. I'm sure you can find piranahas at specialty fish shops, I had at least two different shops in the metro area I live in that carried them. One shop carried the common, cheap piranaha, the other had half a dozen different variations of rare piranahas. I've raised pirahanas since they were smaller than a penny, fed them with a baby dropper, all the way up to eight inch fish. You want the biggest tank you can get, since pirahanas eat lots of food, that then turns into poison in the tank. I was doing 25% water changes a week and the water levels were still toxic, so be prepared to do at least two 25%-50% water changes a week to keep the water safe for them.

  4. but his amp doesn't see watts, it sees amps

and an amp has to work to turn those amps into watts

and no amp is 100% efficient and when you lower the ohm you lower your efficiency so if you work your way down to .5 ohm your really running inefficient

idk the efficiency of that aq amp but i'm sure its quite good, 50-60% is just a low number to keep his voltage up.

OK, so the amp is pulling 3500 watts, but actually converting maybe 2000 watts of it?

But it's using 290 amps? Or is the inefficency making it pull only 180 or something amps?

Either way, I don't see how there is a loss of 100+ amps figuring in only this amp, or am I missing something?

I'm not arguing with you, I just want to understand. Thanks dude.

  5. you need to know how efficient that aq is at .5 ohm

    14volts x 250 amps = 3500 watts

but that aq is prb only 50-60 % efficient at .5 ohm so your back down to around 1800 watts

so 1800 watts / 12 volts, since your alt isn't keeping up we will say 12, plus its always better to have extra

so 1800/12=150 amps you need to make up with batteries

OK, you lost me. How is his alt not keeping up? His alt will provide 3000 watts.

    Edit: Is this what you're looking for? 12v x 250 amps = 3000 watts?

500 watts are left over. We need to divide that by 12 volts and that will give us about 42 amps.

If you have, lets say, an XS D3100 battery that has an amp hour rating of 110, your battery will

last about two and a half hours, in theory. The harder you run your batteries, the less you'll see

in a real life application. If you have a 110 amp hour battery, and you're pulling 5 amps from it, you'll

probably see 110 amp hours from the battery. If you're pulling 90 amps from a 110 amp battery, you won't

get over an hour of time, because it's being pushed so hard. It might only give you half an hour of time.

I have a thread in the XS power forum asking for these exact numbers for a D3100 but I'm still waiting for an

answer, after 5 days. I'm just a newb, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

OP, I'm only figuring in 3500 watts of power for your amp (I don't even really know what it's putting out).

    EDIT: To clarify amp hours

  7. I've been thinking about a monster set up for a while and I know that the more alts you're running, the more problems you have with slippage and such.

If someone wanted to make a 50,000+ watt bass truck and wanted to be able to supply most of the power via alternators, it would take over 4,000 amps if

I'm calculating correctly. IMO that would be doable for a PTO, but impossible if it was in an engine compartment.

  8. I prefer platform and caliber consolidation for SHTF. It's better if you have replacement parts, you'll know all your magazines fit in all the guns, etc.

I personally have a 9mm Springfield XDm (19+1 capacity). I like 9mm because the ammo is so much cheaper than anything besides .22.

If I were to recommend anything for TEOTWAWKI I'd have to go with Glock. Almost everyone has a certified glock armorer course that

can be taken within a few hours of their house. Because the police use it as their weapon, there is sooooo much availability of every part you'd

ever need available right now, on the net. OP, do you have a large stockpile of ammo for every firearm you own? I consider it folly to own less than

a few thousand rounds of ammo for every gun you own. The stores can be sold out of ammo in half a day and if there's any hint from anyone that

resupply will be minimal to nonexistant you have a paperweight. This is all JMO.
