  1. I think what the OP is asking for is to help the design of the box that would have a port like that to his vehicle. As in "The subs I'm using are this, can someone design me a box or help design one with these measurements and the port look like that." I'm sure he doesn't want THAT EXACT box. He wants that box, but built to his subs and his car measurements so a smaller scale. But maybe I'm wrong.

  2. there is no way in fucking hell his stock wiring would be able to support a high output alt.

I would agree, depending on how high of the alt is. If he went with the 220, I'd give it a very very slim chance. But as for my car, I've seen these so called high output alts that give like 25 more amps than stock. Would that fry my stock wiring? Nah. And again, I wouldn't consider an alt that does about 25 more amps than my stock alternator high output either. I mean going from 85 to 110? It'd help obviously but may as well spend the money for a 220a or something mech or dc can provide. Once I get my light fixed, Imma contact mech and dc and see what price they'd give me since don't see an alt for my car on either site, or better yet, the entire internet. But that'd be few months down the road as pretty thin in the pockets at the moment.

  3. There will be many others (I expect) to chime in and give their opinions on if that's enough but I'd definitely say so. If not, which I definitely would do if your gonna do a high output alt, do the big 3 upgrade. I'm no expert on it but think your stock wiring could handle it, but considering you'd be doing an alternator? Might as well do the big 3 at the same time.

  4. When it comes to bass, you always want more.

Guess I'm not a true basshead then. Been havin my bass down low until I get a light fixed and today I decided to hell with it and turned it up. Whoa. Forgot it was that loud haha. Not sure I want more bass than what I have. But what I had before? Definitely wanted more. Don't have all the specs like "I got to 100db" or whatnot but was a decent setup for very cheap. But then did upgrade and yeah. Think I reached where I'm happy as far as bass.

As for the OP, think you're used to it. I know I had headaches for a week straight due to my bass. Almost was to the point where I'd go to work and tell everyone to stfu or get slapped cause any noise hurt. But after a week, got used to it and all good. I noticed that the way to tell... look at things and see how they are, like is your mirror moving as much, do you have as much flex (if any) as before, things like that.

  5. Just like everyone said so far, think it's a good opportunity. I mean 10 an hour straight outta hs? That's good. And learning a trait like you say. Two good positives.

As far as tools, could check your local hardware store like Ace or whatnot. Sometimes they're cheaper with the same brands. If not, I'd try Lowe's or Home Depot.

If you want name brand stuff, gonna cost a little more but also it's about what you know you can't break. Haven't seen many break a tape measure or screwdrivers or whatnot. So as long as your comfy with the handle to twist and all, honestly wouldn't say the brand matters all that much.

  6. Don't think this is against the rules but just curious if any of you have heard about the shooting in Aurora Colorado and what you think of it.

Me personally, think Colorado (Damn why do I have to be where all the action is? Haha) has something against kids. I mean Columbine years ago, now this. You don't hear about any other major cities having repeat things like that. Gotta be the thin air, right?

  7. Kind've sounds like it potentially could be the vehicle and not the alarm. Like having to hit the remote twice for it to work? Just think about it. I don't know the whole setup, how new the truck is, all that jazz but when have you heard of an alarm system draining enough power out of the battery that's less than 2 years old that the vehicle won't start or having to press buttons more than once. So my guess would be somewhere in the truck's electrical system, something's going on. And if that's fine, then I think it'd be something like #2 of what you said, that something is malfunctioning causing power loss. Could be something like the locks but could be something more, not sure.

So I'd take it to a dealer (if it's under warranty still) and get it looked it. Just mention about how you have to hit the remote twice sometimes and explain the whole car alarm situation where nothing would work to make it stop. May not be cheap but they should at least do a free diagnostic to see what the problem is, if any. If they say what it is, can get it fixed (for a boatload of money), or can take it somewhere else or do it yourself.

But that's my noob 2 cents.

  8. 160 is pretty high for a stock. Think mine's around 90. Not sure why you'd need to add another unless you got a serious system. I mean I've looked up some alts and they output like 190. But shouldn't matter what amperage the other alt is as others stated. Just make sure it's the same current. Don't want one runnin 12V and another 18V or whatnot. That'd be a problem.

  9. The walls just confuse me. Optical illusion lol. Is the wall with the window the closest to me or the farthest? Idk. At some points, it looks the farthest away but other points, looks closest. So definitely would have to say optical illusion on that one. But like I say, looks good. Way better than I could do. Hell, I have problems just shrinking pictures.

  10. Looks good, cept fake as all can be for the tires. Good jobs look real. That looks beyond fake. If you could make it look more realistic, then I'd give a 10/10. Since it looks fake, I'd give it a 6/10. Which is way better than I can do so you're miles ahead of me.

The second one looks good. I honestly can't tell which way the walls are going, if the window is like the screen at times square in NYC or what. Gives something to think about. But honestly, think it could be in a video game (maybe an online rpg or somethin). Give that one a 8/10.

    Good job though on both.

  11. Nooby install and work? Yeah right. That's actually very good. I mean sucks that you lost your entire back... but hell, looks good. If I had a similar car, I'd go for that setup.

As for an alternator, I'm not one of the guru's obviously but there's 3 sites people on here mention that I'm sure at least one of them would be able to put an alternator together for ya.

As for power, not sure if you have but first thing people mention is the big 3 upgrade and then battery. Upgrading your battery to an HO battery should help some as far as power.

But that's my 2 cents as a true nooby. I'm sure others will come around and either put my foot in my own mouth or give better examples of what I said.

  12. I don't think it has as many features as Photoshop, but then again it isn't a couple hundred dollar program

PS is free... if you know how to get it. Haha. But we won't talk about that.

Back in the day (When gimp was like 1.2 and all), it was very similar to photoshop. But now, guess it's more different. Not completely different, just slightly. But as mttornquist said, free vs couple hundred? I'll take free!

  13. I would buy my subs and then design a box for them instead of trying to find 12's that will do good in your box. And since stuff costs so much over there, you would probobly be better off going with two more powerful 12's than 4 less powerfull 12s...and then build your own box for the 12s. Of course, you don't have to go with 12s... How much space do you have in your car, and how much power do you want to achieve?

Definitely agree. Subs matter but the box is the most important. How they deal with the air determines how the subs perform in your vehicle. Maybe 2k's subs are the best in the world but put them in my box and they're crap. So I would first get subs that you want and then get a good box for them. 2 12's could easily outperform 4 12's depending on how the box is built.

Maybe I'm a groupie but I'd go with rockford fosgate. Good prices, great quality. There's cheaper stuff out there, and there's better quality out there. But they seem to be about average or a little above average for price and some of the best products.

But again, just my noob opinion!

  14. Noob here but isn't .5 ohms... uhm, pretty darn low? I mean all these subs are 1,2,4 ohms and so amps are usually the same..right? So shouldn't almost any amp be able to run at .5 ohms?
