Went out and bought a new stereo and still no power HMMM

Alright I will check all that. The red power wire for the HU sparked when it hit metal so its getting power, Maybe its a bad ground.

Ok, Would the speaker wires prevent power to the headunit?

Kenwood KDC 248u sundown sa-12 dc 2 to 1 OHM Hifonics brutus brz 1700.1 no i havent.

So I was hooking up my sub/amp and I got it all hooked up and started a song my headunit said protect, I took the positive lead off my battery and tried it again and i got the same protect message. I made sure all wires were covered and tried it again but this time I had no power to the headunit. Ive tried fuses,re covering the wires, etc nothing has worked. Im stumped :/

So I'm either looking at a DC level 3 12" or a sundown sa-12 with either the hifonics 1200w or 1700w and making my own ported box.

I dont want to spend over $500 on the amp/sub/box if possible. I listen to mostly rap music and I have a 99 silverado ext cab with the rear seat taken out.

So with the sundown brand is the E series good or would I be better off with the SA series?

I want it to be loud but still have good sound quality. Is there a average port size or dimensions for a single 12" sub?

Should I try to build my own box? Or is there a "better made" box than the ones posted?

I might look into the sundown subs. They do have a pretty good rep.

I am looking to put together a somewhat cheap system. I have a 99 silverado ext cab, I put the back seat up so space isnt too much of an issue.
