  1. Well how does it sound?

Currently the one I have in my car in an old .35 cube sealed box on a RF Pbr300.1 sounds great, unfortunately we had to reverse mount it because the box was so small . I forgot to throw up my decaf vid:

Cell phone camera sucks and doesn't do the sub justice. My pair of MA80xe's never hit like that and that is just one Skar in the same boxes the MA80xe's were in for a few months.

That 4 th had way too small of a ratio.... hence why u cut it up

Think 2 cubes ported to 1 sealed minimum.... pr 3 ported 1 sealed

So you are saying basically a 2:1 ratio? So if I ever decide to make another .75 sealed and 1.5 ported would be more optimum?

Very nice for a single 8 sealed! We need to get more videos of these things up. Still waiting for some parts got get mine up and beating

  2. that jackhammer is 800 rms@ 2 ohms. get two dual 2 ohm vvx8s and wire them in series. I would say a .6-.75 cucf net box ported tuned to 33-35 range. Should sound very good for two 8s on 400 watts a piece. good news is if you decide to upgrade to the ma-8 later it will work in that same box :)

  3. a search helped me on my quest. From what I gathered the skar ma-8 fit my needs a bit better, It can handle a bit more power. I was going to go with the vvx 8 until I read on the ma-8. Just search around, skar is some good stuff. They dont requre much room and can get pretty loud for a small driver. I would not compare them to a sa8 though, I believe the sa8 is more of a spl sub and the vvx more of a sq sub.

  4. Thanks Joe x! your a big help around here. Its nice to see it drawn out on paper rather then in my head. One last question, on a port in the center how do I toal up my length when it 't's on the back wall? If I need, lets say, 10" more do I split 5" one way and 5" the other? I have never done a centerport, just ones on the side. Im going to get building this enclosure asap.

Right but it's all already done in the cutsheet, look at the bottom and you will find: "Shared port internal assembly parts" section, just cut the 4 parts and assemble like in the figure, when it's done you will notice that the width of the port halves in the lateral ducts. You may want to draw the cutsheet to verify this. If you are doing the center deflector let me know to give you the dimensions of the parts, all other 45s are 2 1/2" wide.

Ok thanks again. Ill post a build thread this week! thanks everyone and joe x for the drawing!

  6. I saw bass barbie did about 145 iirc on two SA-8 v2 subs. sooooooooo 72db give or take a few db

Edit: but really, it all depends on your box, placement, your car, power.... etc it's too hard to tell. best way I would gather info would be to ask others who ran a single 8

    T

Thats basicly what I'm doing, asking others that have ran a single 8. Like I said, no one around here has one, kinda sucks! It would be going into a 02 civic facing the rear. I would love to run 2 to 3 of them but cost would be the issue there. Just wondering what luck people have had with one of these little guys!

  7. Dont know why you say that of your current box, I asked you this a while back (above).

"Post the size (external dimensions and port dimensions if it's a ported design) of the box you have now,"

I think 750 W a piece is doable but the box has to be calculated.

The box now is 1 cube net a piece, tuned to 38hrz. I dont want to use this box, thats why Im asking about other boxes. I want to build one that fits my car better and looks/sounds better. Can anyone draw me a sketchup of 3 cubes net, 45sq in port 36-37 hrz. My sizes are l=36 w=14-18 h=16 thanks!

  8. I'm not talking numbers, I'm talking everyday music, rap, rock, ect. I have yet to hear one but I know they are well talked about. What mainstream subwoofers will compare to a single sa8v2 on a ap15001d amp (turned down I'm sure)? I have read about what they can do but like I said the proof is in the sound, and no one around here has one that I can hear. I currently have two type r 10s in 2cubs net @38hrz on that audiopipe amp. It sounds alright, tuned to high for me, but how would a single little 8 in a recomeded enclosure compare? Sorry if this has been asked before but If you were to say that this 8 would be comparable to lets say a single type r 12 then I could better judge the output of it.

  9. That's too much power for the type r,

They can handle 6-700 of good clean power,

But if you start clipping at 750 kiss them good buy,

Have you look at the sundown sa10 thell take that all day

Or if you want to save space the sa8

The sa8 compared to typeR 12 on the same power, will be on par with spl and sq but you'll still have a trunk

Now this got me thinking. I know sa8s are good but I have yet to hear one. Will one of them really match the output of a type r 12? I mean obvously in a good enclosure and good power, but is this possible being 4" smaller?

  10. I have two type r 10s in my civic now. Im looking to build a ported box to really make these things shine. They will be running off a audiopipe ap15001d@ 1 ohm (1500rms) I like the sound and look of a slot, big port opening so i was thinking 15-16sq in per cube? Im wanting subs and port facing back, port in the middle but willing to change that. My max sizes are L=36 H=16 W=14-16. Does anyone have good luck with certain designes that they would not care sharing? I want these tuned a bit low but I dont want a one hit wonder box ether. I listen to everything but mostly young jeezy type songs. Im also very interested in doing a horn style box if it will gain me more output.I have never designed one of these. thanks in advance for any designes
