The e8v3s put in work. I'd go with 2 e8s cause of cone area and they do get loud for 8s. I had 2 in a box on 600~ rms and they sounded great and got down.
-
Slightly larger than the surround at full excursion. Since you cu5 already start sanding
yeah figures. When I got time, I'll take it out sand and invert and fire it into the cabin and semi seal it off, I wanna show off that motor I think I'll stick with this box until I got money to buy this 94' BMW E36, then make a new box.
-
I got a X-15, and if I recall, when I first made my box I used the jasper router jig guide to cut the hole to the cutout diameter of the sub, I think I tried to invert it to see how it would look but I think the surround rubbed.. Is there certain cut out diameter for inverting it?

Audio technix 400.1 would do the trick or the CT 500.1 Great amps for the money!
-
My bad, wasn't really paying attention.. I don't see anything wrong with that box.. What kind of amp?
I saw the title and thought it said 6th order, lmao fail.
-
Someone on youtube did a dual e8v3 6th order.. id say go for it haha. I ran my e8v3 in a t-line tuned to 32hz that I messed up (the line ended up being tappered, no expierence on tappered t lines and this was my first tline) and it sounded awesome. Great freq response, and got down low, loud ans clean. It was on a soundstream tx1300.1d @ 4ohms, says "550" rms. Probably around 450-500 plus rise so go figure. If in a regular ported box id say run 400-500 rms on it. Theyll take it no problem as long as you know what your doing. Id say go for the 6th for the hell of it.
-
I ran 2 E8v3s in a 1.45ft^3 box tuned to 32hz via 2 3" aero ports. Sounded great and didnt have much or any port noise at all. You should be fine with 1 3"
-
currently a t1000 pushing a lil over 1500rms but willing to upgrade to a t1500 which would put out about 1900
My X-15 is in a 3.45^3 @ 28hz on a CT Sounds AT1400.1D and it wants more. Barely moves. Maybe about a 1.5" max. Sounds awesome. If I had more space I'd do 4.25^3 tuned 28 or 26hz. This sub loves them lowwws. Dont be afraid to run more than 2k on this bad boy. If you want to really see it move, youre gonna need quite a bit more power than 1.4-1.5k

It's always good to hear from someone who has the exact same setup you are looking for.I would go with the X-15. In a properly built box, it will deff get loud and clear. I currently run an X-15 in a 3.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz via 6" aero in my trunk (2013 accord sport sedan). Running off a CT Sounds AT1400.1D @ 1ohm (DD1 tuned) and it sounds awesome! I wouls go bigger on the box but I still wanted some trunk space.. it deffinately moves some air (haven't tried a hairtrick a woman) but it moves my friends somewhat short hair. I could put a more powerful amp on it but I figured this would do the job (it does but seems like it wants more).. great SQL sub. You won't be disappointed!
I did find out I live about 20min from ct sounds though so that's always good to know.
Yes it is. And that's good! I love this amp, the bass knob can also turn on and off the amp and has a built in volt meter, very useful! If you get the X-15 tune it low this sub is loves them lowwws.

My box is around 1.34ft^3 after displacements tuned to just under 30hz. It's 13"H x 25:W x 12.75"D. I used 2 3" aeroports with long 90 degree elbows. It's in my bedroom running off a RE Audio DTS1500.1 DD-1 tuned, hooked up to a Coolmax 950 watt PSU. Its in my bedroom till I buy all the audio equipment for the Honda, may go in my Volvo XC70 for a lil while cause I'm ordering an Alpine CDE-147BT h.u and Infinity Primus comps and 2 ways for it.
Here are my babies (one new and one I've been using)
E8v3's & E12's
Here is the first cut
The Jasper model 200 is the best invention and I finally got myself one!
Perfect circles finally!
Priming the sides
Box just needs the top and paint.
I used duct tape and plumbers putty incase if I for whatever reason, wanted to take them apart or take the elbows off to get a 32ishHz tuning. The bolt that goes through the opening of the elbow is there to secure it and it is very tight and there's no play.
Its all done! This set up gets pretty damn low too! Sounds great, I tuned to 30hz because I mainly listen to rap and decaf and this handles it great. Sounds pretty good on pop and everything I throw at it. Yea the screws were to close to the edge and began to bulge out
Hmmmm... Just seeing how it look in my 9th gen. WILL eventually go in there once I get all my equipment to swap out all the audio and what not, this will go in there and then when my X-15 comes in and its box is done, I'll swap.
Pics of it in my bedroom set up
- Yamaha RX-V365
- Pair of oldschool Klipsch KG4.2's
- CoolMax ZU900B
- RE Audio DTS1500.1
- 2 Sundown Audio E8v3s in a 1.34ft^3 tuned to 30hz @ 2ohms on 700ish RMS
Amp is on an angle cause it has a fan on the bottom so its tilted for ventilation. Yep that's unnecessary 8 AWG wire...

Yeah people around here are like I got my stuff at best buy but it bumps.. Bitch please, you ain't even know what bump is. All they care about is booming bass rather than all around quality and it annoys me. Box is 1.35ft^3 tuning to 30hz via 2 3" aeros, I only got a side and a wall up, busy week at work for me so I haven't really had time to finish it, tonight it should be 90~100% done hopefully!
it really depends on the person theres really nobody around here who knows the quality and performance of sundown or any real brand. there just like dude my kicker comps hit so hard lmfao! my brother bought a pair of e12s and i had my e8v3 box for sale on craigslist for like 2 months and nobody ever was a series buyer. but im sure plasti dip is gonna look sexy. how big is the box ?
ya dude. when i was gonna first paint it i was gonna spray paint but i build a 12 box and eventually sold it and i painted it with spray paint and it looked like shit hah. so i tried out some old paint from my house. just get a nice roller and like a 15 dollar small can of house paint. i painted my 10 box tooOhhh. You seem to sell you're subs easily wtf lol, I'm trying to sell my e12s. >: but damn, I've got all my cuts for my 2 E8v3s done (will make a build log) and I have 2 cans of plasti dip (matte black), I wanted to see how it come out and yea it won't be peal-able after.
Huh it looks so smooth, or that's how paint comes out on MDF? I've never painted MDF before..i just put wood filler where all the screws are and sanded and painted with house paint

Oh btw what did you coat the box in?? That's not fiberglass is it?

Alright, thank you for the help! I'll prob use the 2 ports and use elbows cause I'm trying to keep my box under 25.5" wide, and its gonna go in the back of a Volvo XC70, then in the trunk of my 13' Accord sedan and then in my bedroom lol.. Yeah it's going in a lot of places, just trying to experiment with it. I listen to a lot of decaf, rap, and some pop, that's why I'd like a low tuning.1x 3" per sub
or 1x 4" for 2 subs
1.45-1.5 is a bit high for that much power
shoot for 1.2net with 2x 3" ports
side not with both of them port @ 17" in 1.2net your going to be @ 41hz
so youll need to extend them 27" each for 33hz
you could do 1x 3" @ 13" 32.5hz long but you may get some port noise, if its in the trunk you may not notice or care just beware it might be there
and idd use the soundstreem @ 2ohm giving 450 a piece
-
So I got another E8v3 and will be building an enclosure asap.. I'm shooting for anywhere between 1.45-1.5ft^3 tuned to 32 or 30hz. I got 2 3" PSP aeros sitting around, not sure if I should use 1 or both?? The subs will be either on a Soundstream TX1.1300D on 950 RMS or a RE Audio DTS1500.1 on around 700 "RMS"..
-
Yeah, thanks for the suggestions! I've been looking around also.
Could check emf audio as well for bstock. DB-r has refurbished sundown amps.
hell ya man. i just got a new xs power 3400 in the front. look at carstereogiant.com they always have good open box deals on sundown subs and amps
I really want to, I want to sell my current Soundstream first and use the money from that to help pay for a used SAZ-1500
are you getting a new amp?
Yeahh man! I had preordered the X12 but since I got a new car, I am able to fit the 15 so I switched the order and paid the difference. I'm shooting for a 4ft^3 tuned to 30hz via 6" aero. Deff gonna move some air with that
oh getting a x 15. cant wait to see some videos man. i wish i would of got me a x12 there so damn niceSo excited for my 15 to come in! Although I wont install it until I buy my door speakers and a processor the wait will pay off though!

lol. It's chopped and screwed or just slowed and boosted at certain freq.thanks man i put some time in that thing to make it sexy hah. i dont listen to decaf though. its funny because i was asking my brother the other day what it even was. is it like a artist or just like regular songs slowed down with more bass? it sounds good on pretty much every kinda music.
-
Your paint job looks really good and also how do those sound on decaf or the 30hz and under range with your tuning?
