  1. Ok one more question the 1:9 port ratio, could someone clarify this?

    That just means never have more port area than cone area.

    Example: If you have 1000 square inches of cone area then dont go over 900 square inches of port area.

    If you have (4 round 15's) 706.5 square inches of cone area then dont have more than 635.85 square inches of port area.

    [RANT]I think most of these "theories" and "general rule of thumbs" are BS anyway. Most of them encourage you to either make the box too big, have too much port area, or tune it too low.

    When you build an average of 40 to 50 ported boxes per month for 5 or 6 years straight you get a pretty good idea of what works the best and what is just impractical.[/RANT] :)

  2. 90% or more with the top up, I live in WV so its not real warm for long. I would like it to be loud for top up and down but mostly with top UP.

    if thats the case then you will be safe tuning a little bit lower. (i would say 38-39) but expect to lose 75% of low bass once you "drop the top". :)

  3. ok so make sure i've got this right. If i go with a 2 or so net cubic foot box, after i add on port, sub, and bracing displacements it shouldn't be over 3 cubes total correct? And that 20 square inches each? is that for sub or per cubic foot.

    using your dimensions... 35.75W X 11T X 25D you've got 4.42 cu.ft.

    Build the box that size with the 4 8's along the front of the box with a slot port along the bottom right below them.

    The vent should be 34.25W X 1.25T X 18L. That will tune around 37. Divide the center of the vent with a strip of 3/4 for a brace.

  4. they will fit touching across the 35 3/4 face.

    That will leave 1.5 x 33 prob just enough vent area for them.

    i recommend 400-450 rms of clean power.

    tuned to 37hz

    agreed!

    .....but i would tune it around 40 or 41 so port length doesnt eat up too much airspace and because they are 8's.
