Best thing to do is post pics so team sundown can take a look.

Most quality drivers can take over rated power but it has to be clean.
-
What does gains set half way mean? I'm guessing you we're clipping and feeding them twice the rated power.

A little customer service goes a long way!

What was the gain set at when you first touched the probes to the + terminal?

I dont know why everyone has been bashing the DD1. If you watch the videos that Steve and Tony have made you will realize that its is essentially an O-Scope with a dummy light. It shows when you have a clipped or distorted signal when used properly, 99 percent of the dd1 problems are user error. Even if you used a 0db track and used an o-scope, depending on what track you are listening to and how you set up the headunit/eq will still be able to clip at certain frequencies and burn up your drivers.

I have ordered from sonic numerous times and the customer service is always top notch. I had a package lost in space once and they ship one out priority without second thought.

I always drooled over the Orion amps every time I went to the "audio shop", They were nicknamed "The beast" if i remember correctly. I have great memories of Orion, PPi arts and the Soundstream Reference, all which were out of my budget. My first demo of a big system had a row of these is a extended cab toyota hardbody with fiberglass topper. Was running 20 twelves at the time and all I can remember was the air vents kept popping out on the ground while he jammed some Mj man in the mirror.

He not talking about the signal being out of phase he's talking about the coils on each driver being out of phase of each other.
