  1. honestly if you have to ask the question then that leads me or us to believe that you don't have the experience to push well past rated power to those subs and expect them to hold up fine, a vast majority of people that run 2500+ watts to a pair of sa 12's don't play too far below tuning or they don't play full tilt for 30min at a time, if you're dead set on a pair of sa-12's then get a pair of dual 4's on a brz1700.1 at 1 ohm and call it a day.

i already have them, they are D2's can't you run 2 D2's at 1 ohm?

  2. If you have a halfway decent box, I dont see 2400 watts being an issue to a pair of sa 12s. Ive been running a Sundown 4500 on the my pair of SA-12s since october, and they finally threw in the towel 2 nights ago.. thats not bad considering how much power I was pushing to them. Who knows how well my 4th order was for them, Ive chaged the box up a few times and each time it did get better in output and quality.

Also a box for a pair of SA-8s version 1s I built, and had a hifonics 2400 pushing the pair and the amp was wired @ .5ohms, clamping a solid 2,000 watts rms. Sups are still working fine to this date.

So the BRZ shouldn't be an issue? nice! each sub would be getting 1200 each right?

  3. I ran double rms power to my skar VVX 12's before I got my ZVX's and they took it pretty good but sure didn't like it..... Also I didn't rail on it for more then 30 sec.... The one time I tried to stress test them I played decaf 10+ minutes with zero brakes and I got them a tad stinky, but aft they cooled off were just as good as normal......

The good thing about giving them more power then they are rated for is they loosen up a lot quicker lol. My VVX 12's took about 6 hours play time to really get nasty lows.... Took almost a week with my ZVX's lol

then what amp would you recommend for 2 SA-12's? my budget is 300 and under. Maybe a amp for each sub? idk, help me out :)

  4. dont do it, if and when all goes bad you'll be out of subs wishing you hadn't done it at all, if you weremore experienced then i would say go for it. theres a rating on them for a reason, its so the average person knows when to stop, just becuase one person does it doesnt mean the next person should.

    So what if i got 2 MB Quart ONX1. 1000D (475 @ 4Ohms, 1 x 750 @ 2 ohms, 1 x 1000 @ 1 Ohms) and had them at 1 ohm for each sub? would that be better?

But if i got one of those, wouldnt it only be giving 600 to each sub @ 1 ohm?

  6. no..

why do you answer like that? its almost tripling the RMS power @ 2 ohms

Because I have personally ran one on two sa-12s and know many others who have...you forget that you will not get close to the full 2400 watts on that amp after box rise and all....

you have pushd 2400 watts to a SA-12...

ok are you talking about 1 or 2? you said "I have 2 SA-12 D2's"

i just want a simple answer, is this too much to ask?

  7. I love these,"can I over power my subs" threads. Why do you find it necessary to drive double the RMS power to a sub. You can NOTHING. It is not going to do anything magical when you throw double the RMS to them. What it has a GOOD likelihood of doing is sending a lot of extra heat. Granted that they are well built and can take tons of power, but why are so people so interested in this? It's it just so you can brag and say,"yeah I am running 1200 watts to each of my SA12's and they're taking it like champs"? Also, youre but very likely with efficiency and impedance rise to see the full 2400 watts anyway. Do you really want to be that customer that has the story,"I was told I could run 1200 watts to a sub rated for 600 watts and it blew, I have no idea why"? Please keep it simple and buy an amp that does 1200-1500 and call it a day.

I come here because im not as experienced as you, and you are tired of seeing the threads? Don't answer them then. smh
