got into an argument about how much power you can get out of a 120 amp alternator. would it be safe to say you can run 2000 watts with the correct batteries and everything?

you can run 10000w on a 120a, but you need to have a TON of batteries.
In reality, a 120a alt on its own can support 1200w or so. Maybe 1400w, maybe 1500w. Then when you add batteries that will go up a good amount per battery.

Alright. This guy just keeps going on that you can't run any more power than what the alt can supply and that the batteries just regulate the voltage.

All it does is stress the alt when you run more than it can handlle, you cushion that with reserve aka batteries. There are a few builds that have 10k+ watts on a stock 60a alt, because they have a dozen batteries
