I'm not sure if I should have the port facing up towards the roof or towards the back tailgate. Which one will sound the best for music and spl?

Thank you guyz for all your help you have made it a lot easier for me to get started. I'm still not sure about having the port on the bottom of the box facing the hatch.

I have a 04 Explorer and I wanted to get a box built for it. I want it to get very loud and also be able to hit low notes as well. I don't want to take up all my space in the back hatch. Here is the space I'm willing to use. 46inches wide x 27inches tall x 25inches deep. I also don't know how low it should be tuned. I was hoping the box could have a slot port that face the tailgate while the subs face up. I sure hope this is possible.
