guess i could do an l port to get my length
You should bend it. For the best results the port should be the same area for its entire length.
-
Thanks. So if I understand you correctly, you suggest sub up and port back toward the bed?
Yes.
-
As long as the port length and internal volume are correct both of those boxes are both fine.
The port area is found by multiplying the height be the width (72 in^2 for the first and 88 in^2 for the second)
There will not be a noticeable difference between the two.
I would recommend the top box configuration, as most people find that loading the port into the back of your vehicle and the sub facing up to be the best option.
-
how well will it work??
No one here knows.
Its just a box with chambers and a port
Depending on the subwoofers and the loading environment the performance could be yay or nay
Use WinISD to model the box with the drivers you plan on using.

Always heard marine grade birch or mdf is best. Use at least 3/4". Double up on your baffle. And don't forget to round the inside corners of your box. Just my two cents...
There is no need to round the inside edges of the box as wave at such low frequencies would not even notice it. All you are doing is making your enclosure volume smaller which is not desired.

I didnt know what section this topic can go under, but I made a soundtrack using 12 songs i downloaded from itunes, and 7 from Ares/PP (illegal sites lol) and he complained of clipping which is supposedly bad for your subs (literally on all the songs, most which came from itunes). Has anyone else had this problem and is there an alternative site for downloading songs.
This sounds like your friend is turning up his stereo too loud. The iTunes songs are in high quality (256 kbps) so unless the producers allowed all of the songs you happened to download contain clipped bass (unlikely) the quality of the songs aren't the problem, your friend is.
yes clipping is bad for subs because it sends a dc signal to the subs which heats them up fast. and use zshare lots of songs and its completely legal.Clipping does NOT send a DC voltage to your subs, a DC voltage is one that does not change over a long period of time. In fact, your sub will never even see the clipped wave due to the filtering properties of the coil. It will put more power into your sub and heat it up faster.

All the Q parameters are derived from the impedance graph for the speaker.
-
Just a correction to the topic title:
The woofer does not clip, the amp sends the woofer a clipped signal which originates from either the song or the amplifier.
-
this; I went from sealed to ported, and even with 2 10's on 340w RMS the difference was HUGE. Do it!
The title for this post is very misleading....

Arizona Ice tea MUCHO-MANGO!!! Thats where Its @!
Or McDonalds Sweet tea lol
Whats with everyone and sweet tea?
I like it as bitter as possible.

where can i find this song at? the song sounds pretty sick. idk where to find it though.
-
how do you guys know the Hz of some of the songs on here do u have a program that analyzes it or something?
Most of us use Audacity, there are a few tutorials somewhere here....

There is no difference other than getting ohm loads
A Fi btl dual 1 and dual 2 are the exact same sub just your able to drop the dual 1 to a lower ohm
However your amp will run hotter on a lower Ohm load (because you are pumping more power through it) and you will have higher distortion from the amp.
But from the subs point of view XXXX watts into 2 Ohms is the same as XXXX watts into 4 ohms.

my voltage has been great since i added the 2 extra batteries and i get warrenties with my amps
The title of this thread is very misleading................ :01nocomment8so:

Check out some of these designs.

I built a pair of the T-36's and they are phenomenal, I've heard nothing but good things about all of these designs. The people over at that forum are also a great help to anyone and may have a bit more home audio knowledge than you will find over here.

well if ya dont mind, how reasonable are ya talkin? like would it be worth gettin over something new or like new for the same loot?
Silicon glue works great, it shouldn't give you any trouble once you patch it up

There was a burrito eating contest at my local Qdoba and this is one of the guys that was there... simply amazing

so run....for example...my aq amp to my rcf dj equipment? but....would i run that with my sub rca's or my regualr front/rear input rca's?
Is your sub passive or active?
-
There would be a significant advantage to run your speakers of regular DC car audio amps.
All amps use DC current, so your dj amps have a converter which takes the AC from your wall puts out a DC current for the amp.
When you use those in your car you are converting the DC from the battery to AC through the invertors, then BACK to DC inside your amps through the converter.
This results in a huge loss in power. If you are thinking of seriously making a permenant car setup i would recommend using car audio amps.

TDs are so much better on warcraft III

yea my box is ported and when i open my window(s) the lows are much louder.
i think its got something to do with sound wave cancellation, the sound waves breaking themselves when they hit the windows?
More the fact that your car is acting like a huge enclosure itself, when you open the window you are essentially changing your car from a sealed box to a ported.
-
how big is your box what size woofer i can help u better with those things
x2
Port length will depend on the volume of the box
The internal displacement of the sub will depend on how physically big your sub is, there are ways to figure it our pretty accurately, be creative

it looks like the audio pulse axis subwoofer
linky
It looks more like like the Ultra LMS.........

I know its not what you wanted, but I was bored and wanted to try something......
Its a bit more interesting... hah
Voice Coil Ohm
in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Posted
This gives you the Re, or DC resistance of the coil. Because you put AC, not DC, voltage across the speaker in normal use, the AC resistance, or impedance is much more relevant.
The impedance changes with the frequency so is not as simple to determine. The "ohms" listed in the specs for your speaker are derived from the graph of impedance vs frequency of the woofer.
