  1. I know people are tired of me pimpin out for Alpine, but they truly do have the best ipod integration and the fastest connection speed of any head units out there. Hell, they were the first ones to come out with a deck that was designed just for the ipod, damn thing doesn't even have a CD player. Not for me, but just goes to show just how dedicated they are to making sure the decks they build work seamlessly with the ipod.

And the new Alpines come with the cable now. Pretty pimp-tastic if i do say so my self.

that system sounds really clean too. Cant wait to really hear it pound.

  2. Thats a good video. Damn I love the Discovery Chanel. That and the History chanel. Did you notice, when they shot that ak at the 8" wood blocks, that old guy jerked the hell outta that trigger. Its no wonder he couldnt group for crap.

Seriously thuough if your looking to plink or hunt there are better guns. I used to have an ak and it was fun just not really good for anything. Atleast not till someone invades the U.S.

  3. Well I just went out and bought some new gear today. Nothing amazing but it was dirt cheap. I picked up 2 Type R 12"'s And a crappy pre- fab Q-Logic Slot Port box to replace the Fubar 12 I killed yesterday. Oh and the pre-fab is only till the weather gets nicer and I can build one. I got them in and wired down to one ohm on an older Fosgate 300.1 amp. It hits pretty good. I'll be picking up a newer Fosgate in a couple of weeks. And the damn speaker pods still aren;t done. I know I know I'm slacking. I have a bunch of sanding to do today. Hopefully they'll be ready by tonight. I just need some motivation!

  4. Um... so I don't think I put enough hardner in.... either that or my damned garage is too cold for it to cure. I guess I'll just wait till the morning and go from there. May need to recover them. Oh well, first time, what did I expect.

If I didn't put enough hardner in will it still cure? its tacky as hell just not getting hard as fast as I thought it would.

    ^damn that sound wrong^

  5. I gotcha. I use to have an '89 escort GT. It was a fun little car. It was 5.25" all the way around. i thought the '91 might be different. Oh well.

Yeah take some pics. good luck.

Yeah not only are they 5.25" in the front but inorder to put anything in there you have to mod some stuff because its a pretty shallow mounting depth. If you don't mind rolling your windows down its no big deal but if you do you have to get creative like me lol.

Nice start though can't wait to see some more progress and I'll do the same. Looks like that hatch needs a good cleaning haha!

  6. I think I'm just going to attatch the fiberglassed pods to the door. I'm going to paint them grey or silver with some flake. Actually I'm going to take them to a freind who paints professionally and have them painted. Them clear coat them and wet sand em. Hell might even do some wax and a buff :P ! We'll see how adventurous I get.

On a side note I've never done fiberglass before but I am going to start that process tomorrow so ANY advice would be appreciated. I do have a question: I've seen most people use a lite weight fleece type fabric for the base then resin. Is there a reason for this? The reason I ask is I have a thicker woven fiberglass fabric to use. Will this work ok? I mean I know it will probably be hared to saturate with resin but it should work pretty good right?

  7. and where did you look to get a new lower insert?

I made the lower insert out of 1/8" mdf and some foam and some suede. Not had really. Looks better the stock. I just wish I had more suede to do the back to match the fronts.

As far as mounting the fiberglass pods al I'm going to do is screw through the back of the door panel I think. I made the pods out of birch so they don't weigh that much. I love that stuff! If anyone has any better ideas on how to mount them I'm all ears.
