Sub back or sub forward work well. However, sub back can cause problems if the box is big and it blocks the wave from coming back into the car. Most SPL trunk installs are sub forward.
-
I will do a better one soon. My truck is still getting louder and this was the only attempt that I've ever had at one. Next time I'll roll down the window a bit more.
-
I'm not sure what they go for. Both the amp and sub aren't mine, they are a teammates and he bought the amp from Mike Elder who is sponsored by Powerbass. I don't really care for their subs to much, but I liked the amp while it was in my truck.

There are pics of my box floating around here
And as for my 149.7, that score will be erased if I go to another show before finals:)

To be honest, the HDC3 let me down a bit on its burp score, but it's defiantly a good sub for the money.
The chick is actually some girl that one of my teammates is talking to so she gets passed around for videos a little bit:) If you didn't notice this video is actually from Snoopdan's account. He's a buddy of mine:)

Very descriptive.

I'll test one for you. I can get the power to push that thing:)

I wonder about the small box big port theory.
Any of you guys seen pics of the Ford Ranger extended cab Kicker was playing with to make 2 8 inch L7s do 150db.
The box took up the whole extended cab area and the port was damn big too.
Can't find a link though.
I'm doing a 150+ in every spot in my truck (head, dash, kick) with a single 15" Type R. It's just a bit over 40 more square inches of cone that 2 8" L7's. These scores are outlaw of course.

Start by tuning way higher.
Burping at 45hz is way low. Should be up around 60+ ideally.
If he is doing MECA then I can almost guarantee that 60 hz would not be a good frequency. Nearly everyone that meters at the headrest is peaking below 50 hz.
-
I don't really mess with the dash, but I should be able to do over a 150 at the dash with my doors open because my truck does not like to be sealed up. Pretty soon I'll be doing over a 150 in every area of the car: the headrest, dash and kick.

It's about time that I took a video of my truck. Today I decided to test out the kick panel for a USACI show that I have next week. My equipment is ZX2500.1 and Type R 15". Sorry that the video is kind of poor, but we had to rush it because my batteries in the camera were about to die. My teammate also had to stay on the roof because I lose a full dB if my roof is not braced, which kind of made it hard for the camera to pick up the font on the screen. Also keep in mind that my meter is the hardest one that I have been on yet

The HDC3's aren't much louder than the R's. PERIOD. You can keep changing boxes and try to get optimal results, but the difference isn't going to be a whole lot.

TYPE R POWAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm kind of too lazy to repost all of the pics, but here's a link to caraudio.com with all of them posted. Enjoy. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327063

Pretty much every car that I have done a decent install in has broke a 145 at the headrest. Most of them sound decent on music and some others sound great. I've designed the boxes for nearly everyone on my team and we are moving up the ranks on the Meca boards.
-
I haven't messed with any RF subs, but the RF setups around here have yet to impress me. Maybe I'll talk to some of my buddies and try to do some drop-in testing to see how they stack up to other subs.

Just like the cars resonant frequency usually gets lower as SPL increases, which is why sweeping with a sealed box is only a ballpark figure... also why I think it's odd when people ask on here for resonant frequencies for vehicles... even if they're told say 50-60hz that's the difference between a peak and a trough so totally meaningless ;/
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but from what I've discovered (in my truck) is that as the power increases the frequency also increases. My old setup that peaked at 47ish hz (full power) would peak in the high 30's at low volume. Therefore, low volume testing is worthless. I haven't tested this out in any more cars others than mine.

arrogant much?
I was just kidding. But, 145's really aren't hard at all. It's kind of a low goal for Andy, imo.
-
LoL.
Let's hope he doesn't touch you.
Sorry bud, but I don't roll that way. However, Andy might
-
Whatever I touch gets loud, so 145's shouldn't be a problem.

If you wanted to make a mathematical formula for your car it would be so complex that it would take your entire lifetime to figure out. It's just easier to do the actually testing rather than sitting around all day calculating theories.

Exactly. Only the meter knows.
