  1. ok soo guess I'll start with just some pics of building this...

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if you try anything like this and screw your self up...I'm sure this will void the amp warranty... Idk?

this isn't super hard to do but there is some cash involved in this project so if I or anyone else screws something up that person is responsible for they're self

that being said here's some pics :)

    Some smexy amp guts

    2014-04-04_15-57-29_983_zpsdde0049a.jpg

This is where I will be tapping into..hard to tell but there are holes already drilled and tapped into the power and ground blocks..found some screws that fit :)

    2014-04-04_15-57-39_318_zpsf94af541.jpg

Will be stealing these to fuse it...yes it will be fused so I can access it from outside the amp easily...gotta be same :)

    2014-04-04_15-57-58_602_zpsa48be76a.jpg

now the fun part of coming up with a design heres how that went...first with pencil

    2014-04-04_20-13-05_968_zps5e940cd0.jpg

    Then with sharpie

    2014-04-04_21-33-26_102_zpsb9c21d90.jpg

was off center so I traced this and shifted it slightly with a template

    2014-04-05_01-06-45_611_zps08f9c4cf.jpg

used a hole saw to help with getting the corners evenly

    2014-04-09_17-41-21_955_zps3e8c5ccf.jpg

    2014-04-09_18-01-05_500_zpsd02d94cc.jpg

used a 45 degree roughter bit all the way around inside but f'ed up one part I'll fix that with some bondo

    2014-04-09_19-15-59_812_zpse7aabdcc.jpg

Here is an easy way to make a jig for SMD meters just cut round circles...then cut accordingly then flip the side to its flat on the bottom and glue staple...messed this up too kindo hard to judge with my hole saw the bit wandered around and put one closer than the others

    2014-04-09_19-35-12_590_zps43015da6.jpg

    2014-04-09_19-36-19_457_zps2c9c7e62.jpg

Then you can use double sided tape or finishing nails to hold the jig the piece you want cut and use a flush trim bit to trace perfect oulines of the odd shaped meters ;)

    2014-04-09_20-04-12_598_zps18b076c6.jpg

then I used a 45 again while the jig was still on there

    2014-04-09_20-15-48_495_zps9558ba13.jpg

    Testing

  2. This is pretty badass.

HOLY SHIT... that is very nice craftsmanship :yahoo:

That's beautiful, man. A true work of art.

Thanks guys! always humbling to receive compliments from people on smd because they are from true bass heads who have experience and much more talent than I.... and not just regular people who say " what is that?" "why" "that's cool I guess"

Haha I just laugh and say "because I can, so therefore I did." in my mind though I am thinking...oh yeah well GFY!

  3. this has to be the best ive seen

I hope so! I know SHCA and maybe some other guys are designing custom amp back for these buuuuut mine has guages :)

The sneak peaks I've seen of their amps are smexy though!

    That is pretty sweet.

Thanks man! I am happy with it so far!

Bad ass man I admire the work and thought youve put in

Thank you very much, it was a first amp mod for me so yeah took some time to get things they way I wanted them

    Awesome MOD!

Can't wait to see it in action. :good:

Yeah I've noticed that some LED controllers are NOISY as well.

Thanks bro! I think it would be cool to do one cut out of aluminium, because it would look cool and also cnc' are perfect ;)

Yeah I'm anxious my self haha..too bad I wont be here for a month!

    Those amps are sex.

Agreed which is why I was afraid to take it apart in fear of ruining that sexiness!

Looks great, you made a sexy amp even sexier lol.

Thank you! Again I was hoping to improve not make it uglier haha!

awesome looks good. Yea LED controllers seem to be very noisy. put a filtering cap in the postive and it helps greatly.

also helps them not to dim if you have some voltage drop

Thank you man! And I will have to look into that..may have some ?'s for you! :)

    sick

    haha agreed!

  4. Looks pretty badass id say!

Lots of fab work and dollars spent on toys, but the result is well worth it..

Funny how the led controller is interfering with your cellphone or camera everytime you changed the colors. LOL

Thanks man..wasn't too hard but yeah time consuming..and yes dollars spent on toys lol!

Yeah I uploaded an earlier vid when this was being built just with the rgb's flashing a bit and same thing...I was like wtf is that noise...oooh haha! Tricky controller :)

Looks awesome and a very unique idea.

Thanks man I'm very happy with it!

  5. Just thought I would share a little project I've been working on..I've got 2 5.0k's I'm doing this to but this was alot of work so I'll show you the money shot's first then I'll finish the rest with kind of a build log set up but this way you wont have to wait till the end to see the results... your welcome :)

    DSCN3691_zps726b8401.jpg

so kinda hard to tell which was the point but the SMD D'Amore VM-1 OM-1 and TM-1 are behind the plexi I smoked

    some lit up pics

    2014-05-21_22-33-10_260_zps4a1df346.jpg

    2014-05-21_22-34-17_857_zps44129cbd.jpg

soo yeah there are built in fans controlled by the TM-1 and are set to turn on when the inside of the amp reaches 100 degrees

This will all be all internally wired I'm not done this isn't perfect needs some tlc before I'll call it good!!

I'm leaving the contry for a month but just wanted to get this presentable before I left

Soooo yeah if you want to point out any flaws....GFY!

I have lots of pics of this thing being built but I'll post those later here's a small vid of them

Also I couldnt hold the camera power it up to show the led's sweep because we all know thats one of the best parts of these :)...couldn't do both and turn the led controller on......... so when both 5.0k's are done I'll post a vid of all 6 meters firing up :)

if you want to check out my current truck build that all of this is going in that is here

    http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/169404-goodvibez-04-dmax-10k-center-console-rebuild-4-dc-xl-10s/page-20

dunno if you can tell but I love these things

    2014-05-06_12-41-22_921_zps28289840.jpg

Lastly Thank you SMD and D'amore engineering for the help :)

    Much appreciated :)

  6. Holy smokes that grill turned out titties!

y u not show us your ways......

damn you and your talent.....makes me sick!

    ;)

Edit; you posted the vid while I was typing...good stuff grills came out nice..makes those pods look like something you would pay extra for on a rzr except better!

  7. Yeah probably p2's I was thinking the t1's would be a bit heavy and under powered, but would still work.

Sorry man wasn't getting on your case for a possible typo just seeing if you were wanting a T1 but looks like you will be going p2's cool beans bro! :D

2 P2's on a power 500watt in a bandpass sounds sweet man, looking forward to the dash work with possible ipad!

still may need some smd rca's....we will see :)

  8. Looking kick ass Steve! Super envious! I think you mean T1 10's I don't think they make T2 10's but if you wanted to do a trade I got a brand new T1 10 I wouldn't mind trading for some smd rca's haha...seriously though don't have a use for it once I bought it...I do have a use for some smd rca's though!

Again RZR is looking like it's going to JAM!

  9. Love this place...humbles me and lets me know I don't know everything, in fact I have barely seen the tip of the ice burg of car audio knowledge from a very far distance! Wouldn't have it any other way! :D Cheers!

Thank you SMD for all that you do to help the car audio community, you give us sweet tools, great advice, SOTM, and a place we can all collaborate and come up with more ideas!

    Again Cheers!

  10. Damnit! Was about to change my answer to a polaris razor or an articat wild cat after seeing all the previous raptor guesses...

Nice man Your going to love it!

i'm already losing sleep and its not even bed time yet. :D

Haha yeah toys will do that to you! Can't wait to see what kind of mods you do to it :)

I mean these kind of toys are made to be customized! Iterested to see what you do to it audio wise!
