xawx
Ok so i have a db drive 1000.1 amp which is rated 1x 1000 watts @ 1 ohm 1x 500watts @ 2 ohms I currently have (2) 15's which are 4ohm subs hooked up to the amp which makes it 1 ohm? Now does this mean that each subwoofer is getting 1000 watts or only 500? i think the awnsers only 500? lmk im learning so please help a new audio guy out thanks! WillPwn4Food
It depends how you have your subs wired. If the subs are single voice coil, you can only wire them down to 2 ohms if wired in parallel (8 ohm in series). If the subs are dual voice coil, you can wire them down to 1 ohm if wired in parallel (4 ohm in series) The "1x 1000 watts @ 1 ohm" is per channel. Since it's a monoblock, it is sending 1000 watts out of that one channel @ 1 ohm. Since you have two subs, that power will be split in half, sending 500w to each sub. Same goes if you have them wired to 2 ohms, it will send out 500/channel, or 250/sub. Edit: If you're unsure about wiring, check out these two sites.
