hdorre
Yes. In fact, most people on here do. I would only use an isolator if I mix battery types or play the system with the car off. Keep in mind that isolators add *usually unnecessary* resistance Quote On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread

Keep in mind that isolators add *usually unnecessary* resistance Would there be any significant harm if i didn't use one? bignickk
i use one currently and am going to take it out to see if theres a diffrence. i know the diode based isolaters have a .7 voltgae drop so stay away from them if you do get one....and if you have 2 comletly diffrent batteries (like i do) is it safe to not use one? it was my understanding the alt would charge the weaker one Quote 2000 tahoe orion hcca 15.4 kicker zx2500 2 JL 300/4s infinity and kicker mids/highs KHC1400 in back, stock upfront dont ask about my HU clarion EQ kicker/fosgate rcas
ClarkB
I have mine wired from the + terminal up front to the rear battery + terminal, and have a wire from the - terminal on 2nd battery grounded to the frame in the back. The alternator will charge both batteries this way, but it does put more strain on the alternator. My heavy duty 875 cca battery is in the back i have a comp different batt up front of around 600 cca. After installing my 2nd battery it seemed as if my amp was able to push more watts because my subs hit the low s even better! I heard 2nd battery is much better then a cap. So far i would agree. Guest
dont use one. simple as that. if you would like to keep your alternator from not doing what it hates (that is, charging an extremely dead battery, which an isolator does)
ClarkB
I revived the battery and both batteries give out a solid 12.2-13 volts.....No dead batteries.
