Dinzu Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 I am running an Audiopipe AQX3500.1 in a ford explorer to a FI BTL with the sub wired to .7 ohm and with the gain set down to have the amp around 1200 watts(before box rise) I replaced my stock alternator(95 amp) with a bigger one(130 amp) ran 0 gauge from the alt to the battery, added a deka 9a31 in the back and used 0 gauge to run the positive to the front and ended up running out of wire and used 5 AWG for the negative terminal. The deka is grounded in the rear with 0 gauge and the amp uses all 0 gauge also. Despite all of my upgrades at full tilt I am dropping to low 12s sometimes high 11s in voltage. Will doing the rest of the big 3 and running 0 gauge from the back battery's negative to the front's negative solve my issues? Pretty odd to me that adding the deka and getting a alt 35 amps bigger didn't solve this. Thanks in advance for all help.

Dinzu Posted March 31, 2011 Author Report Posted March 31, 2011 all im thinking is the gain isnt set right, bad alt, shitty batteries, I'll go check the gain real quick with my DMM, The alt made a huge difference over the stock alt(which was replaced 3 months ago) and the deka is new and the voltage on the deka is 12.9-13 when not in use, and starting battery is 2-3 months old.

Yeah DMM take the pos speaker wire out, everything flat on head unit, 75% volume, 50 hz tone. Square root of watts times 1(1 ohm load) But it was a little high (50.3) which is odd since I haven't touched it since before the upgrades. How many watts do you think I could push with the current setup though? And would doing the grounds under the hood with 0 gauge(they are still currently stock grounds, I only did alt to batt) and running 0 gauge instead of 5 from the back batt to the front will make a big difference?
