If you want "better sound" and "hard hitting" you should seal it off. If you go rear facing you will get sound traveling off the rear to the front. But fold the seats down while listening will sound a lil louder due to nothing blocking the sound. I think there are a few gee-wiz guys on here who could explain the technical aspect of that..
