Dan208 Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I've been doing some research for my summer project. I want to try something I've never done before, and am considering either three or four 8's. I was looking at the Dayton Classic 8" because of price and lots of good reviews. I found this box calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=26 When I enter everything and use a Qtc of 0.707, the box size I get for four subs is a little bit larger than I want to go with. However, when I use a Qtc of 0.9-1.2, the box gets right into the range of what I want to use. My question is, what are the pros and cons of using a Qtc other than 0.707? What I understand from reading is that using a Qtc of 0.9-1.2 will give you a boost in bass, but will there be any negative effects such as a higher chance of destroying the subs, etc? I've tried modeling them up in WinISD but I'm a total noob with it and don't really understand it.
