CaseySlavin Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 i have a 2008 dodge mag fixing to start building it. trying to get questions answered before i tear it down. the alternator is in the front of the car and batt is in the back under the cargo floor. goin to do the DC high output alt. and want to know how i should work the big 3 upgrade? also do i have to buy the module for my car to let the alt put out 14.4+ or is it goin to do that when i hook it up with out the module? if any body has some good ideas or a diagram of what they did i would greatly appreciate the help Quote
keepinitloud Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 run the 1/0 from the alt to the back 1/0 ground from alt body to body of car I put mine on the factory ground lug then in the back 1/0 ground to the factory ground lug thats how mine in my 300 is done Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
CaseySlavin Posted June 21, 2011 Author Report Posted June 21, 2011 thanks for the help i take it you don't have any type of dimming with that setup. also you you have any idea about this module that i have read about. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) that module your talking about just boosts the voltage that your alternator creates. not really needed for a regular audio setup though. IIRC (dont quote me on this) but i think dc alts are set to 14.8v or somewhere around there straight out of the box so no voltage booster is really necessary edit: some cars have the voltage regulated by the PCM and not the alternators voltage regulator but i dont know enough about it to give you a solid response on that. Ren504 Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 So you would use the module with factory alt to boost voltage. How much boost does it give? Quote
CaseySlavin Posted June 21, 2011 Author Report Posted June 21, 2011 thank for the help guys lookin forward to posting pics in the future of my ride. Quote
CaseySlavin Posted June 21, 2011 Author Report Posted June 21, 2011 from what i was reading it is aadjustable up to 15 volts or something like that but i was think that allot to run through your stock wires. if the way im think is correct. Quote
keepinitloud Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 you dont need it the chryslers and dodges have a module that keeps the voltage there already mine has no dimming unless I wang on it hard with some very hard hitting bass but it only does it a little bit at first hit of the note but I have a small second battery and still using the factory batt when I do a battery upgrade I hope that goes away god luck with your build post up picts and vids everyone loves those here if you haven't figured that out yet Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
