stipek Posted June 30, 2011 Report Share Posted June 30, 2011 Right now I have 2 MTX TR7512-22 with a JH600 amp and a Stinger 1 farad cap. 4 gauge wiring. Everything else is stock. So to start I can safely double my power with these subs. My idea is I'm building a 5.16 ^ft net box (15.5h x 40w x 23d), subs up/kerfed port back in center. Might be a little big for these 12's but I would like to use this box to up to 15's later. Question is what amp would work well for these 12's wired at 2 ohms and then push larger 15's wired at 1 ohm? What 15's would work with the selected amp? Note: I'm more interested in matching the amp with the 15's...I can set the amp accordingly if the rated rms power at 2 ohm is too much for the 12's. I have glanced at hifonics brutus series, soundstream spl line (not as good...that's why they are cheap), mtx elite, and audioque for amps. Looked at RE, maybe DC, alpine, don't really know on the sub. Hopefully I can do this with Big 3 and 0 gauge wiring. No extra battery or HO alt. I've been gradually upgrading my system for over 15 yrs. Notice i said gradually. I've realized I will not have the time to do much more (job, kids and all) so this is one last "good enough" upgrade. This is just for daily, DD and Sundown, etc. is more than I want to spend for this application. Thanks for all your suggestions and opinions in advance.
