'95 Civic H/O alt.

Recommended Posts

Looking into getting a H/O Alternator for my 1995 civic. But cant find much on eBay and dont wanna spend a few hundred on MechMan.

So I inquired about this 160 amp alt. My link Asking what its specs were, at idle and how much it would take to reach full output. Stock alternator for my Civic is 80amp. So this will be putting out the stock amperage at idle. But for 140$ do you guys think this is a decent deal? I wanted a little bigger like 175-190 amps but was having trouble finding them on eBay. And dont think i could find one for less than 150. So will most likely stick with this. But since it puts out stocks max amperage at idle. I was thinking this would be pretty good to replace it with ? Wont be doing any future builds in this car since I am getting rid of it pretty soon. But could use a new alt. It will severely help voltage drop. Although I never see below 12.6. Id like it to stay around 13 or higher.

This was their reply:

Dear rickywhitted407,

HI,

On the idel will give you between 70 to 8 0 amp

on 3000 to 3500 rpmm will reach 150 to 160 amp

also make sure you have good heavy duty battery, highest cc battery

Thanks

I can promise you will not see 70-80 amps at idle on that vehicle. They are taking a stock alternator and rewinding it, doubling the max output and killing the idle performance. I would save your money and get something that is more worthwhile. You'll spend less money in the long run.
