DarkLanDeamon
Well power wise use will be roughly the same, remember 18kw is at 18v to each crusher he is on a 12v system with volt drop etc use would prob be looking at the same power figures if not you might even have a tad more. So with overall comparison of box design etc use should be seeing very similar scores, could go either way really
Phoenix Gold Oz
Well power wise use will be roughly the same, remember 18kw is at 18v to each crusher he is on a 12v system with volt drop etc use would prob be looking at the same power figures if not you might even have a tad more. So with overall comparison of box design etc use should be seeing very similar scores, could go either way really Yeah hard to say, of course we could do a clamp test to see where each vehicle is at... and not that I prepared this earlier...but... Lunchbox's subs each have 124sqin of Sd and 0.7874" of Xmax, so Sd x Xmax = 0.423 Gallons (1.6 Litres) of Vd (Volume Displacement -- the amount of air it can move). Since Lunchbox is using 6x 15" his Total Vd is 2.538 Gallons (9.6 Litres) For the Astra each sub has 82.15sqin of Sd and 0.7874" of Xmax, so each sub has 0.28 Gallons (1.06 Litres) of Vd, and since we are using 18 we get a Total Vd of 5.08 Gallons (19.08 Litres) Of course more Vd doesn't automatically mean more LOUDZZZ, but we're still hoping for a good result!!!! Now do people get my dumb Team Vd signature?!? I thought it was funny... Scott
Phoenix Gold Oz
Hi All, Quick mid-week update... We did a bit of down and dirty work to it this week to try and get it at least making some noise for the MEA BASS Battle last night at AB Narre Warren. We roughed in a new battery tray to put an SPV69 under the bonnet, and rewired things up front. We moved the SD500.4 Amplifiers (75w x 4 RMS) from the floor behind the rear seats to the back wall of the box. We installed a Ti1500.1 monoblock (1250w x1 RMS) on the back wall and dropped in 2x Ti212d4 (12" Dual 4ohm 600w Subs). We built up some quick blocking panels to trun the back row of the bottom box into a sealed enclosure and silicones the heck out of it to 'try' and get rid of the leaks (fibreglass hadn't arrived yet) and then we fired it all up at 4:20am on Wednesday Nigh/ Thursday Morning!!! Not much different to look at, but here's some pics from the show last night that Damo95 took. This weekend is fibreglass central!!! Phoenix Gold Oz
OK so just sitting her doing some absolutely useless math that really means nothing at all, but is still fun to look at... At the event last night we ran 2x 12" in a sealed box and did 136.9dB at 47Hz, that was with all the remaining subwoofer holes open, no side walls etc, etc, etc Looking at WINISD, the sealed box models out at 115.9dB at 47Hz in free air Therefore 136.9dB - 115.9dB = 21dB of cabin gain Now once again looking at WINISD, when we compare the sealed box Vs the 4th order design that we will be using, we get 123.4dB at 47Hz (a gain of 7.5dB) So using this as our new starting point: 123.4dB + 21dB of cabin gain = 144.4dB 144.4dB +3dB (doubling our subs+power from 2 subs up to 4 subs) = 147.4dB 147.4dB +3dB (doubling our subs+power from 4 subs up to 8 subs) = 150.4dB 150.4dB +3dB (doubling our subs+power from 8 subs up to 16 subs) = 153.4dB 153.4dB +0.5dB (adding another 2 subs bringing the total up to 18 subs) = 153.9dB 153.9dB +3dB (halving our total cabin area once we wall everything off) = 156.9dB As mentioned this means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, just some fun math...we'll all just have to wait and see how it all turns out!!! Phoenix Gold Oz
This weekend we tore everything out again (Oh the joys of installing) and got back to work. We started putting onthe final baffles on the bottom box, stepping from 24mm on the front row, to 48mm on the middle row and finally 72mm on the rear row. We also started all the bracing for the top box, and getting all the angles to fit was an absolute pain!!! Got all the other cross pieces cut too but ran out of time to get them installed. Phoenix Gold Oz
Our filthy little helper Glenn also got the new battery tray for the engine bay done, so it's official that you CAN fit a SPV69 under the bonnet of an Astra!!!
