Recommended Posts

Whats up guys i picked up a 93 s10 recently and it has a 4.3 non vortec motor. I was wondering

A. can you swap vortec heads in from a newer 4.3

B. if so how hard is it or is it a "plug and play" application

Pretty sure they do bolt up to the block. The problem you run into is that the intake manifold bolts that go into the cylinder heads are at a different angle on the Vortec heads. So this means- new Vortec intake manifold too. This could also mean new Vortec Injection, linkage, etc... AAAND- depending on the application, your bolts in the front of the heads that hold the accessories and serpentine belt assembly on could be in different locations or not there at all.

So, there are a lot of variables with the whole thing. I thought about going Vortec when I re-did my 4.3 Then the deeper I got into the research, the easier it became to either go 350, or just go stock. :pardon:

You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. I would follow you to hell and back.
