dmz2711
I know that if i want to measure my measure amp out put i will need a clamp meter and a DMM. I know that you are suppose to clamp one of the speaker output wires going to the subwoofer, either the + or - but not both at the same time, to measure the amperage. Then you are suppose to put the DMM on both the + and - speaker output terminals and set your DMM to read voltage. The question I have is, is it safe to leave the subwoofers wired to the amp or do i just disconnect them to be safe??? i am not too sure, but i don't think it would be safe to disconnect and clamp the + speaker wire, while the - wire is still connected to the subs... :-[ any help with this would be great! TechSys
Amp clamp goes on the positive power wire to the amp. DMM goes to the speaker outputs of the amp. Red goes to + and black goes to -. Set DMM to read AC voltage. Amps times volts equals watts Of course I've had people argue with me on that, saying it's not true. So I don't know for a fact about the formula.
