hey yall, i'm pretty new to all this, just always had my mtx 801d amp and a L7 12 but i just bought a 08 escalade esv and a buddy of mine bought a 2000 esky that came with a setup that he's selling me for just $400 and wanted yalls opinions on it and what i should do with it all or change. i'm getting 8 memphis audio 12s, pretty sure it's the power reference series which are rated at 250rms, a diamond audio D7-104 amp that was apparently powering the subs, 2 capacitors, and a RF 550x amp that i'll probably use when i decide to go with components in the future.

I plan on using this stuff for the time being since i'm doing other things to my truck first which include 26s, 3/4 drop, and big brakes but just wanted to see what yall thought of this set up and what should be changed or did instead of how it currently is. I'm also going to have two yellow top batteries and a bigger alternator when all this is being installed by a local audio shop. thank you for yalls help!

also, if yall can recommend what i do for the alternator..the shop suggested a shop that'll rebuild mine to pull 300 amps or would it be better to buy one. as far as electronics go, i dont plan on ever doing anything crazy..just the components, it already has two factory drop down screens and nav and such so outside of this set up nothing more. thanks again!

Ditch the cap and upgrade the battery/alternator.

no point in capacitors for your case. mechman would be the way to go for an alternator. most people just use the stock alt casing and just stuff bigger shit in it, which is a terrible idea because the alt wont be able to cool the additional heat created and it will eventually fail.

i wouldnt even use that diamond 4 channel for those woofers. 4 channels arent meant to be used on woofers. they are meant to be used on mids and highs. i dont even know why someone in their right mind would be doing something like that. what voice coils are the subs? like 4 ohms? 2 ohms? dual 4 ohm? dual 2 ohm? we can determine what amp would be best once you give us that information.

do you know where the best place to order a mechman alt would be for price wise?

and thanks, never even thought about that with the rebuilding part.

and ill probably use that diamond for my mids and highs..any you recommend that won't dent the wallet much but are loud and clean?

and i should find out in the next couple days the exact specs on the subs when my buddy opens up the box and finds out the model number..i'm currently in kuwait right now doing contracting work so i'm doing all this from across the world.

just trying to get everything done before i go home in march for my vaca..i rolled in the caddy 100% stock except for 5% tint all around when i was home in july and want to have everything done up for march.

but it didnt make much sense to me for someone to run a 4 channel amp on the subs. but i wasnt for sure since i'm by far no ca expert. thanks again!

order it directly from the man himself. call him at 1-888-632-4626 or email [email protected]

and amps cant be loud, just a heads up. but if you are able to wire to 1 ohm, which we wont know until your buddy finds out, then i would recommend a crescendo bc2000 or a dc audio 2.0k. lots of people love those little amps.

edit: i also saw that you're having a shop do this install for you. almost every shop installed system i've seen has something wrong with it, be it a little problem or a huge problem. why cant you do it yourself?

sounds good. i'll for sure hit him up. and what do you mean our amps can't be loud? i'm a little confused.

and the reason i'm having a shop do it because my skills of installing are very minimal..i've ran wires to do the installs in a 94 camaro when i was 16, which is probably one of the easiest cars to me to do, a 87 k5 blazer, and my 03 f150 i have. and this escalade with the nav, back up camera, flip down monitors i'm a bit intimidated with the electronic stuff to it, and because of how much this truck cost me. and because of time since ill only be home for a month and lack of help because no one i know knows car audio and i also dont want to remove the headliner for the dynamax

amps arent loud because there isnt any moving parts in them. so how would it be loud if it just sits there? it can MAKE speakers loud, yes, but the amp itself isnt loud.

and just a btw, its not dynamax, its dynamat. and thats just a brand of sound deadener (what the product itself is called, its not called dynamat)

ha, any chance youll be in the clarksville/nashville tn area and could just do this install for me and make some money? lol
