About how many sqfeet would i need to do the inside of a ranger xlt. doors, roof, floor, and under back window. Just a rough guess would help alot.

40 sq. ft. max, not much more is really needed.

Doors 2-3 sq. ft. each.

Roof, 4 sq. ft..

Floor, 12 sq. ft..

Rear/back wall, 4 sq. ft..

This is of course following 25% coverage per panel, which is really all that is needed to kill panel resonance.

what do you mean 25% coverage per panel? Only cover 25% of each of the panels? and my second question is what kinda of stuff should i buy? there seems to be alot of different kinds of second skin

That is correct. Far too often people cover every square inch of a panel in sound deadener but really only 25% of a panel needs to be treated. Why? Diminishing return. The results are not that much more noticeable (to the human ear) with 50% or even 75% coverage. Other manufactures or brands will tell you otherwise because they have an inferior product which requires more to achieve the same results... I hate saying that but it's true. Two or more layers is completely unnecessary.

So for instance, say your door panel measures 2' tall by 3' long, totaling 6 sq. ft. of total surface area. 25% of that is 1.5 sq. ft., so only 1.5 sq. ft. of sound deadener needs to be applied (preferable to the center most portion of the panel).

As for what to get, I would suggest getting the highest quality vibration damper you can afford.

Damplifier is our "entry" level product, but is far from being the low man on the totem pole. It's performance is comparable to that of most other brands 60-80mil thick products, even though it's a mere 40 mils thick. This is what we call the Dynamat Xtreme alternative.

Next up would be our Damplifier Pro. Thicker, stronger, just even more awesome!

And then Alpha Damp. Sporting an insane 10mil foil, nothing out there even comes close! Only drawback with Alpha is that because of it's insanely thick foil, it can make installation a bit more difficult and it's really only recommended for really flat surfaces.
