Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE Took the Tang-Band woofers out of the doors (in preparation of making new door panels soon). Put them in an older box that I already had- I just re-worked it (more wood, bracing, etc) Box is built to go between the front seats. Cup holders- put blue LEDs in there on my interior light switch. Carpeted up- wired up in Series. Me and my son! & a pretty good Maglite holder. Vid of the Tang-Bands dancing Vifa Logics! In the doors for now in the place where the Tang-Bands were. Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE Lately, I have gone LED Crazy.... Interior lights and dash lights are changed out. I can actually see from the door & overhead lights now. I really like the look of the "Cool White" or "Xenon" SMD LEDs. I've even got them in the overhead map lights and on the tag too- that is like night and day. Incandescent bleh.... "Cool White" / "Xenon" SMD LEDs. Blue LEDs (Dash and in Console) Straight BLUE on the Instrument Cluster. Didn't like the blue LEDs in the dash so much, so got these Cool White SMD LEDs. The camera makes it look bluer than it really is... The "hot spots" aren't there either... camera is strange... Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE So, how can I call the Van the Stay Puft Marshmallow Van when it doesn't have the name "Stay Puft" anywhere? Frosted Plexiglass project. My dad has gobs of stuff.... like old plexi. (Stuff is expensive Retail!) So, free. Took forever to find the right font. I wanted the font that matched "STAY PUFT" on the Marshmallow Man's hat. Cut Out Taped Up. Dremel. Ground a good bit to get some depth. Polished Up. Picked up a string of LEDs from Auto Zone. I was concerned with how many lights this thing would need to be bright enough, but as you guys can see, just the top is plenty. I still have enough lighs to do some other pieces I am already thinking about... Preppin' the vanity panel. Cut and ready to wrap. Wrapped Without lights... LIT! (it is a cool white- for some reason this photo looks all blue) Please make any comments HERE 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. It mirrors the one in the port. Frosted the glass with the palm sander. Border piece drawn up. Cut out. Wrapped. Teh back. In Place. Daytime lit photo... Poor dark Camera photo- but you get the idea. Also, did some more O-Scoping. Velleman O-Scope, Sheffield Labs CDs, Radio Shack meter for matching the tweets to mids. Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE Ooooh! I hate you 23 year old heater core! I think I found the leak... lol Out you go... New and the Old. Aaaaand- back together again. Yep. They are air Fresheners. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Air Fresheners that smell like- you guessed it... Marshmallows. And a 4th Hifonics Brutus! 3 subs to go on each amp at 1.33 ohms.... and MAYBE later go dual 4 ohm subs for .66 ohms per amp! Maybe.... Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE MORE!!! For the 4th one of These: Gonna' go 1.33 ohms to each Brutus. So- Each amp pushing 3 subs. If later I replace subs I may do 16 12"s in a new box.... or 12 dvc 12s at .66 ohms per amp. Ruh Roh!!! Just got the 4th Brutus in!! Had to re-wire everything. Pulled 6 of the 12 subs to get access to the inside of the box. Then rewired them all. I didn't get photos of that... not like it is interesting anyway. So- 3 subs per amp. Makes @1.33 ohm load (reads more like 1.4 / 1.5 ohms). That part was bad enough. Then Pulled the Amp Board for the mids and processors, pulled the sub amps, then added some wood to the box so all 4 amps could be mounted. Wired that up, tidied up wires (though it may not look it from the pictures), then cleaned up the back of the Amp Board for the mids and processors. Put that back in and wired all 10 channels back (I think it is 10... it is a lot. Everything is dedicated active xover'd- other than the 2" A-Pillar pods that are Active + Bandpass Passive). But bla, bla, bla!!! You guys want pictures!! The old: This happened while re-wiring the subs. Aren't magnets cool? hehe What a mess... All together. Wood fabbed in for the amps. And some paint why not? Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE One. Two. Two getting wired. Putting the wires to the box. Three & Four. More wires going in. Even more wires & the EQ for the sub (sorry for the blurry pic) This is how I do cheap RCA junction boxes. It was a 5 channel splitter that the buttons broke on. So- I cut it up, soldered up all the Lefts and all the Rights, then the input goes in the middle. The outputs are equidistant from there. I checked it with the multimeter. Like no drop- cleaner than Y-Splitters. And why not use the output on the amps and daisy chain them? Meh... Just didn't like that idea. Yeah, I know what it looks like.... you can't see from this photo, but now there are like a million zip ties and miles of wire loom on top of this. Amp Mids & Processor board. Getting tidied up. Colin - STAPUFT
Please make any comments HERE Annnnd- back together! And everything actually came on just like it was supposed to! Thank Goodness for Multimeters and the Continuity selection. Pay absolutely no attention to 11.4 volts. It means nothing- except that I continually wreck my battery. LOL Some night photos perhaps? The box. Mr. Stay Puft chillin' in the cup holder. Amps with the doors open. Amps with the doors closed. Now, I know I have some tuning to do, but.... HOLY CRAP. Yeah, so I added one amp. But since I went from 1 ohm on each of the 3 to 1.33 (or so) on each of the 4, I really thought that it would pretty much wash out. Nope. I was wrong. It is louder. Much Louder. And way punchier too. I don't know if that comes from more control from the amps being at a higher impedance or what, but there is a big difference. I couldn't get too crazy with it, as it was dark by the time I got done and back home from dinner (today was wife and my 10th Anniversary!!). So- tomorrow- hopefully some fun will ensue. It is amazing what level of bass someone can get used to. I've gotten used to a certain amount of bass at certain volume levels. So much for that. Before where 28 was getting it pretty good... it seems that loud at, um... 16. Now... if within 2 weeks I can get my second 220 amp alternator in, I think I will be doing pretty good. Gotta' be respectable at Scrapin' the Coast in Biloxi, MS!
