mikelong Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Hey everyone Im new to this forum and just looking for any advice or ideas on doin an 8cuft ported box for 2 15s. This will be goin in the hatch area of my 1992 5.0 GT. My last setup was 7.5 cuft with 110 to 115sqin of port tuned to 35Hz. Subs w2ere firing up and port was dumpin to the drivers side. That box was fine but I want to see if I can get louder. I see alot of people doing subs up port back. The only problerm is that my hatch has a serious slant and all the subs up port back setups are in vehicles that dont have slants. Vehicles that have a more square or rectangular hatch area. So Im not sure if theres a logical reason or if Im searching wrong. My fear is that subs up port back with a slant may muffle or suffocate the port and not allow it to breathe properly. Any help would be appreciated.
Exerstine Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 i don't know much about 5.0 mustangs but i built a box with the port REALLY close to the hatch, it did restrict the flow a lot but it was still pretty loud, if you can help it at all try to get as much distance as you can the slant should do good more than anything, it'll direct the sound more toward the front of the vehicle.

Ive been trying to position the port so that it has room to breathe and not be restricted. I'm goin to walmart to get some cardboard to make a prototype box.Im thinkin that maybe my box needs to be tilted and angled. Subs angled at glass and port tilted so that it can breathe and load, I think my last couple of boxes have just not been able to properly load. My port wars and super port wars scores be just as high as other setups that are hittin higher numbers than me. Just dont know how to incorporate all of that into this new box.
