8MileRoad
my deck is labeled with red color and white color rca outputs but my amp just says "left" &"right" on the rca inputs i think left is to be white and red is right, but im not 100% anyways onto the main question what are the negatives to hooking up the rca's wrong. cause to my ears both ways sound the same. Guest
white is left and red is right. pretty much universal for any product ever made. if you swap the rca's, the amp just outputs the Right channel signal onto the Left channel speakers and vice versa. if you hook up rca's backwards for the front speakers and you do it correctly for the rear speakers, you'll notice that they may sound kind of funny whenever a song has something distinct on one channel and not the other, like a different voice or something. it wont hurt anything, it'll just sound weird Edited March 14, 2012 by Kranny
Sheena
RCA is RCA, theres nothing special about a left or right RCA other than color coded.. now when you hook it up to the back deck it becomes special. left = white right = red im not sure what happens if you put a left into a right.. never been stupid enough to try.
