Amp and Speaker Matching?

Hey guys, I am new to the car audio scene and definitely new to this forum. I have grown a love for the art of car audio lately and have been doing some reading up on certain things that I can't seem to wrap my head around. Anyways, this is one of the questions I can't find a straight answer to:

Is it Okay to run 40 RMS speakers with a 50 RMS per channel amp (Rockford r300-4)?

I have been looking up answers on any site that comes up on google, but they go back and forth so much that I don't know what to believe. I figured that you guys would have the answers I need.

Yes, it's okay if you know what you're doing.

2. Some speakers can handle more than what they're rated for. What speakers are you talking about?

Okay, I got alot of that in the topics I was reading elsewhere. I was thinking of buying a DD-1. In which case I would test for distortion and than turn down a little more than you normally would? I think that's what I got out of the video I watched.

My front speakers are Rockford R1653's. And my rears are Rockford R1693's.
