wiring help

hey guys i need help? i already have 16 awg speaker wire hooked up from sub to amp and was wondering if i should switch it out for 14 awg speaker wire? will it make any difference in sound or performance if i do switch? also, i am currently running 8 awg power wire from amp to battery. i am using a rockford fosgate R500-1 amp and didnt know if i should switch to a 4 awg wire? would it make a difference in sound or performance if i do?

my preference is to use the best wire i can afford , of course bigger wire is better , and ofc copper is superior to many other wires as well . one thing that doesn't cost is keeping your runs as short as possible .

i bought some of this a while back and have been using this for wire subs until you get into big big power 10 gauge is probably plenty good , to answer your question though , i don't you would see a noticeable difference going from 16 - 14 gauge wire unless the wire you currently have is super shitty .

ok thanks and what about the power wire should i switch it from 8 awg to 4 awg or should i just leave it?

8 gauge copper should be good enough for that amp , personally i wouldn't run anything smaller than 4 gauge period . i would plan on bigger wire if you want to add any more amps or go to a bigger amp for subs .

if you ever feel your power cable getting hot you should think about going with a bigger cable

ok i think im just going to buy the 4 awg wire and hook it up just to be safe. thanks for your help
