I figured out that the Metra dash kit that I have in there now won't work at all for this, because the top two parts that snap into the dash are attached to the rear compartment, so if I cut that off, then nothing would hold it in place. Luckily I found that the Scosche dash kit made for my car (http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FD1327B-1995-Up-Storage-Pocket/dp/B0007KK22E) has a detachable storage pocket, and it appears to mount from the top of the kit itself, so not having the storage pocket in there shouldn't matter. I'm gonna order that one, because it should stand a fighting chance of working if I dremel it out a little bit lol.
