I have a couple questions that I'm hoping people can help me with, thanks in advance!

So I own a 2001 VW Cabrio and just got some new subs to hold me until I can afford a T2500 and some DC Audio...anyways, I have 2 RF P1 10s in a custom ported box powered by a R500-1d and I have the subs facing the back of the car, as opposed to facing into the car, and I was wondering if switching it around and sealing it from the rest of the trunk would make a difference. And the other thing is when I have the top up its always louder, I kinda assumed that that's normal, right?

Anyways thanks in advance. :)

The trunk is the closest thing you will get to cabin gain, so if you are running a regular ported box, its best to fire it towards the rear of the trunk. When the top is down, its almost like you are playing music with the trunk open, because you lose all the little remaining cabin gain you had with the top up. Can be as much as 6db. Only viable option for convertible is something like a low tuned 4th order.
