Nikitaaa
So today I just got the new bdCP Rockford amp and i'm temporarily powering two JBLgto804's with it. I WAY overpowering the subs so the gain is pretty much at 20% or so. Well after a while, the sub started making a funny scratching noise when i pushed in the cone. But when i'm sitting in the front seat it sounds just fine. I hooked up a ddm to the terminal and it read around 3 ohms (Should be a 2 ohm load but I have a shitty dmm i guess..) Will they still be safe to play for my amplifier or should i wait for new subs? I don't want anything to short or an infinate impedance... 2007 M/T Honda Civic Coupe EX (4) Sundown Audio X-8's (2) Ampere Audio 3800.1's (3) Stinger SPV-44 Batteries (1) Mechman 240 3:1 Ratio 4th order sealed from the trunkTEAM NWSPLBest termlab scores to date in Honda trunk:151.7db legal (official) IASCA trunk 3 classBest termlab scores to date in my walled Subie:152.9db legal (unofficial) IASCA advanced 2 class155db outlaw
Guest
if you're pushing straight down on the center of the cone, and its scratching, sub is fucked, or 99% likely already getting there.
Nikitaaa
I'm not incredibly worried about the subs, i knew i'd fuck em up pushing 3x rated power. I just want to know if continuing to play them can cause any harm to my amp? 2007 M/T Honda Civic Coupe EX (4) Sundown Audio X-8's (2) Ampere Audio 3800.1's (3) Stinger SPV-44 Batteries (1) Mechman 240 3:1 Ratio 4th order sealed from the trunkTEAM NWSPLBest termlab scores to date in Honda trunk:151.7db legal (official) IASCA trunk 3 classBest termlab scores to date in my walled Subie:152.9db legal (unofficial) IASCA advanced 2 class155db outlaw
