jdhunt0
I am considering buying the DD-1 to set the gains on my boat stereo, but I have a few questions. The head unit is a Clarion M309. The HU runs to a line driver and then to my amp. Both have a clipping indicator. 1.) Will the DD-1 do a better job of helping me set the gains than the clip indicator on each device. 2.) When I try to play a CD with test tones the HU shuts off and give me an "AMP GUARD" error. Is there a way around this? Thanks
kl0wn
It is always better to use a tool like the DD-1 or O-Scope to actually tune your amp(s). Clipping indicators weren't created to help you tune your system, they are only there as a reference point for you while you are playing. For your second question I cannot really say anything since I've never owned a Clarion HU or even played with one.
