This is probably the wrong section for this, and if so I apologize. (I couldn't find a suitable category for my topic..)

Not too long ago I purchased a set of projector headlights that included some HID's for my 2009 Pontiac G5.

Here is the product I purchased.

Upon half-ass reading, I didn't notice it only came with the HID ballast and bulb for the low beams.

Frustrated I installed them anyways.

I noticed that my low beam HID bulb is much more dim that I thought they'd be. They're actually worse then the stocks, which is a pretty large hazard during bad weather. I replaced the bulb, thinking it was only because it was a 10k-hid originally to a 8k hid, and it looks around the same.

I'm wondering if that's because of a cheap ballast or maybe the actual projector part of the headlight.

The non-hid H1 bulb for the "brights" on the other hand, is pretty damn amazing.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Some of this is due to the projectors. I'm guessing the HID's you bought have 35w ballasts? If it's an option.. I strongly recommend DDMtuning.com. Buy a set of 55w ballasts with whatever color you want (I liked 8k's but had to switch to 6k because of cops in my area). They'll ship it for like 60 bucks if not 50, depends where you live. They come with a lifetime warranty if you ever have an issue call them tell them ship it and they'll send you a new one.

I thought my stock headlights were insane in my truck, when I bought these...just the lows are brighter than both my low and high beam stock bulbs.

Hope this helps

Thanks, that helped a lot. I'm about to purchase the new kit you recommended.

As stated above, The kit I initially purchased came with H7 low-beam bulbs. Is that also a cause, or should I just leave them as H7's?

for that price i would imagine they are really cheap hids x2 on the ddm tuning im running the 55w kit, never going back to halogen

The H7 isnt the bulb's output. H7 is the type of bulb that fits into your headlight assembly. Like my truck uses 9005, and 9006 bulbs while my bike uses H7's. Same bulb...but the housing on it is different and fits differently.

edit: I'd also like to warn you with the H7's that you should pull and twist after you pull the plug off. Don't just twist or you will bend the spokes on the bulb.
