J R Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I bought a Kicker ZX2500.1 used off of a guy for a setup I'm planning on doing. It has just been sitting and waiting on me to get ahold of everything for my setup. I have two Pioneer shallow mounts that are 400rms each in my truck and I figured I would hook it up to them for fun. So I hooked it up with the gain not even to half and the bass boost not even an 1/8 of the way up. I have the sub in and sub outs being used and getting about 2-3v from a Jensen 9312 h/u. I was listening to the radio while installing a PS2 in my truck as well (yes PS2 lol), and about 20 min later I felt the amp and it was just to the point of almost being too hot to touch. It's sitting under a seat on carpet but for barely having the volume up on the h/u and the gain on the amp, IT WAS HOT. Is the amp messed up or what? Thanks for any help! ***2001 GMC 2500HD Regular Cab*** -Jensen 9312 Flip-Out -2 12 inch Pioneer Step-up Shallow Mounts -Kicker ZX750.1 for Lows -Pioneer 6.5 coax in the doors -Pioneer 4x6 coax in the pillars -Old School Alpine MRV-F250 for Mids/Highs ***1969 Camaro Z/28*** -500+ cubic inch 950hp BBC + 400-650 shot of Nitrous -Audio coming soon-
Guest Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 where is the amp grounded? having a 3000w amp under the seats isnt really a smart idea. there is almost no air flow there.
J R Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 Yeah I figured :/. I'm just trying to confirm that the amp is okay. Any it's grounded on the chassis no more than 18 inches away. Knukonceptz 4 gauge. It wants 0 gauge but for having the gain around 3/8 and volume at 10/40 it just seemed overly hot. ***2001 GMC 2500HD Regular Cab*** -Jensen 9312 Flip-Out -2 12 inch Pioneer Step-up Shallow Mounts -Kicker ZX750.1 for Lows -Pioneer 6.5 coax in the doors -Pioneer 4x6 coax in the pillars -Old School Alpine MRV-F250 for Mids/Highs ***1969 Camaro Z/28*** -500+ cubic inch 950hp BBC + 400-650 shot of Nitrous -Audio coming soon-
Jman08 Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 what ohm load are you puttin on the amp and turn bass boost off Youtube.com/J Hutch22
J R Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 The bass boost was so low it might as well have been off. And the amp is rated for 2 ohm and it was getting a 2 ohm load. ***2001 GMC 2500HD Regular Cab*** -Jensen 9312 Flip-Out -2 12 inch Pioneer Step-up Shallow Mounts -Kicker ZX750.1 for Lows -Pioneer 6.5 coax in the doors -Pioneer 4x6 coax in the pillars -Old School Alpine MRV-F250 for Mids/Highs ***1969 Camaro Z/28*** -500+ cubic inch 950hp BBC + 400-650 shot of Nitrous -Audio coming soon-
