1996BLKBauer Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 I am looking to set the gain on my Alpine MRP-M500 with my Multi Meter, but in all the videos I watched they just took whatever watts the amp said on the box, and then put it into the OHMs law equation. Some said top get a birthsheet for the amp, which mine did not have, it only came with a manual. I have also read that the MRP-M500 is rated above what it says on the box. (could be a lie for all I know). But if I did do it, I would have an equation like this V=√500 x 2 ->V=√1000 -> V=31.62volts AC. If I did it this way would it be alright, or should I get the exact RMS output of the amp? Which I don't know. But hopefully somebody will. ZachG Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 If you go with 500w than you will be safe and just not get the full potential out of the amp which isn't bad for your equipment. 1998 Pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged2 12" Obsidain Audio V.1 on a 2011 zx1500.1 at 2 ohms. 20ft of Knuconceptz CCA 0 Guage. 2nd Battery is a Shurken BT-120. Box is 3.5cu tuned at 31.8hz sealed off from the trunk. 14sqft of Dynamat on the Rear deck top & bottom. Soon to be more for doors/roof. Gets low & loud Did a 140.5 Sealed at Battle of the boom in June 2013 dropping to 12.7v (need a alt mines going bad)

1996BLKBauer Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 Well I did the formula I stated above. the Subs are older MTX Thunder series 8000 12" subs. they are rate for 250watts RMS, and 500 watts peak.
