2003 Tiburon hdc15 box design

I was wondering if anyone could help me design a box for my hdc3 15. I have a 2003 tiburon hatchback, with enough room in the back to put a good sized box. I've heard about 3 ft3 and tuned to 36 is where they play best, but I was wondering if anybody had expierence with these. I have roughly 35"x24"x14" of space.

my amp is currently a Polk c500.1, but I will be upgrading that with something doing a real 1000 watts or so for the break until I can afford a aq1200 or aq2200. I will also be doing the big 3 and running a kinetik battery in the near future.

According to the Audioque site, they give dimensions for the box and port specs. Is the port size the only thing that affects tuning?
